Iraqi army applicants wait outside the army recruitment centre in Basra,
550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad April 1, 2008. About 1000 men from
the southern cities of Basra, Amara and Nassiriya trooped to the army
recruiting centre in Basra to apply to be government soldiers.
