Brass,

Seriously. They aren't talking about riots in the suburbs if McCain loses in a squeaker.

That only happens if Obama loses.

You know it and I know it. The seeds have been planted all this time with how the Rovian Devils will steal the election.

The fact is undecideds will decide this. It will break one of three ways.

Landslide for Obama.

Squeaker but Obama wins

or McCain pulls off the trifecta of Ohio, PA and FL.

I'm pulling for an Obama landslide and apparently so are a lot of other people.

George Will, Matt Dowd and Karl Rove are all saying Obama is going to win by a landslide.

How are people supposed to react to the complete opposite of what every poll in the world is saying?

"Oh well"?

A lot of people said Tampa bay was the team of destiny.

We know how that worked out.

The reason they play the game and they hold the election is because pundits prognostications really don't count.

"Conspiracy theory is only theory, BSB. Like evolution."

Well, no, Michael.

Evolution is a fact. What's theory is the mechanics of it. Your post doesn't start with any facts, it's all theory.

>>and why should not I?<<

Very good question. Brass has demanded as much from other people if Obama loses.

==============================================================================

Let me rephrase, BSB.  "Like the theory of evolution."

BTW, evolution is NOT a fact but a conclusion.  To a True Believer in Creationism, each successive generation is newly created by God and did not "evolve" from its parents or more distant ancestors.  The evolution that you take as a fact is merely an illusion, much as a motion picture is an illusion created from the projection of a rapid succession of still images.  It is only to a believer in the theory of evolution that evolution appears to be a fact, instead of what it actually is, which is the conclusion of the theory.  An opinion, in other words.

My post starts, explicitly or implicitly, with many facts.  The existence of a liberal black candidate, right-wingers who hate the candidate and are familiar with lethal weapons and their use, a national security apparatus, hardliners or hawks within that apparatus who hate Obama, who hate blacks generally, who have listened to or heard of the attacks on Obama as a traitor, a Muslim, a white-hating black man, etc., etc., etc., a recent history of an assassinated President, the assassin himself assassinated in a police station before he could really speak out and numerous other facts, from all of which I created a theory.

Other theories can be created from the same facts.  But that's MY theory.

Correction - -

<<It is only to a believer in the theory of evolution that evolution appears to be a fact, instead of what it actually is, which is the conclusion of the theory.  An opinion, in other words.>>

What I meant was that if you do believe, as I do, in the theory of evolution, you might fall into the error (through carelessness) of taking "evolution" as a fact rather than a conclusion.  Since it's a pretty solid conclusion, it probably doesn't make much difference if you consider it as fact or opinion, but technically, IMHO, it's still just opinion.

BTW, evolution is NOT a fact but a conclusion.

Quote
Evolution is both theory and fact. This statement, or something similar, is frequently seen in biological literature. The point of this statement is to differentiate the concept of the "fact of evolution", namely the observed changes in populations of organisms over time, from the "theory of evolution", namely the current scientific explanation of how those changes came about.

"Scientific theory" is hardly opinion. Also from my previous link:

Quote
Scientific theories describe the coherent framework into which observable data fit. The scientific definition of the word "theory" is different from the colloquial sense of the word. Colloquially, "theory" can mean a conjecture, an opinion, or a speculation that does not have to be based on facts or make testable predictions. In science, the meaning of theory is more rigorous: a theory must be based on observed facts and make testable predictions.

In science, a current theory is a theory that has no equally acceptable alternative theory, and has survived attempts at falsification. That is, there have been no observations made which contradict it to this point and, indeed, every observation ever made either supports the current theory or at least does not falsify it. A revision of the current theory, or the generation of a new theory is necessary if new observations contradict the current theory, as the current findings are in need of a new explanation (see scientific revolution or paradigm shift). However, the falsification of a theory does not falsify the facts on which the theory is based.
