An interesting development. Perhaps Vick has come to understand the issues of animal cruelty better as a result of his tribulations. Let us hope so. Fighting dogs for money is a disgraceful occupation.

Expensive too, if it activates a morals clause and negates a multimillion dollar contract.

I have decided not to feel sorry for Vick. His dogs, yes, him, no.

He was lucky to get off and to be allowed to return to play ball.

I am learning a lot from watching Vick.

I see that forgiveness is easyer for the very talented to get.

Vick is a remarkable football athleete , hall of fame class.

So his carreer is rebounding, a lessor player would have simply disapeared.

Where are the rest of the dog fighting ring? The ones who are simply criminals we never hear more of.

I agree, we give a pass to celebrities. Vick is probably no less a criminal than his accomplices. Dog fighting is a sort of cult, and is see as a normal activity, no worse than moonshining.

How about cockfighting? It is pretty savage as well. I have seen several matches in Santo Domingo. Pretty boring, and very loud, lots of jostling and worrying about pickpockets. And I had difficulty in selecting a favorite chicken.

I suppose it is not seen as bad as dogfighting. Lassie and other famous dogs have rescued people in danger, but I have never heard of anyone being rescued by their loyal pet chicken.

We eat chickens, not dogs.

a friend of mines rooster got taken for cock fighting. they know this because it got returned barely alive. Evidently the chicken used can be a random thing without training.
animal fights is a bizzare wolrd I have no urge to know about. shame michael vick didn`t learn that lesson soon enough. I love the fact people defend his right to keep his signing bonus.mass dog grave and folks worried he`s getting ripped-off in football.

Vick was doing something rather monstrous. He has a talent for playing with balls, so what.
I do not see how his playing with balls in a talented way makes him deserving of fame to the degree that his torture of animals makes him worthy of infamy.

I don't think that chickens are trained much, since their fighting is largely instinctual. Mostly they are bred for aggressivity more than trained. Some places ban metal spurs and allow only tortoise shell ones. If the chicken fights without add-on spurs, the fights last too long, they say.

"Too long" seems to be anything over 5 minutes, I have noticed.

It is a bloodthirsty sport, and impossible for me to enjoy in any way.
