Five reasons to join the NRA

This is an anti-gun nut advising people to make a nuisance of themselves to get more restrictions on guns.

Skipping over the proof that fewer guns distributed with greater restriction will have a positive effect.

This is taken as faith.

There is nothing nutty about this.

It makes perfect sense to me.

The NRA is mainly an advertising arm of the weapons industry.

That only proves that you agree, not that there is logic involved.

Does the NRA sell ad space in its magazine to weapons companies?
Does the NRA run favorable reviews of guns in their magazine to supporters?
The NRA promotes owning guns in the same way that Car & Driver supports automobiles and trucks.

Doers the NRA sell its subscription list to gun manufacturers and gun retailers?

No. Does this prove they are nice?:

Yes , Very much so.

Does the NRA run favorable reviews of guns in their magazine to supporters?
Yes , negative reviews are scarce, this could be better because they should be looking for the lemons too.
Quote
Does the NRA sell ad space in its magazine to weapons companies?
Yes , as does every hunting magazine and many other magazines they also sell a lot of space to car and truck advertisement, what is your point?

Garden and Gun Magazine is for gun and hunting enthusiasts who would rather not join the NRA.
Would you advise gun manufacturers not to advertise in it?

The NRA buys and sells mailing lists.

I bought a knife from some online retailer and two month later, I got a membership card from the NRA.

Buying a mailing list is a lot different than selling it.

Did you ever join the NRA and then get a letter from a congressman?

The NRA both buys and sells mailing lists. One of its main sources of income is advertising and publicity. Although it is techinically a not for profit organization, its officers are paid quite well.

If this were true of an organization that you really liked , you would be offended in this of itself?

I only suppose that there is a non profit organization that you might like , and if its officers are well paid , why not?

The NRA is a lobbying organization representing a huge number of Americans , who voluntarily pay a dues , and who are eagerly sought by sellers of guns, gun cleaning kits, bows, arrows ,ammunition etc.

Is this really a complaint?

The NRA passes itself off as a club of hunting enthusiasts.
It is basically a lobbying organization that serves mostly to sell guns to people who already have more guns than hands to hold them. Each and every gun owner will doe, but the guns will not, and the number of guns that will end up in the hands or our monthly massacre types will increase.

The NRA is therefore not a force for good.

That may be what the left is trying to portray the NRA as to the more ignorant in this country, but in this reality, that's not what it passes itself off as

It's 1st and formost an organization that supports the 2nd amendement of the U.S.  Followed closely by the strong advocating of firearm safety.

The financing it receives VOLUNTARILY from its members are specifically applied towards those 2 arenas.  Yes its a lobbying organization, but so is the NEA, the NAACP, the AFL-CIO, etc., etc., etc.  When you start advocating that their voices and resources be shut down, analogus to the criticisms you aim at the NRA, then you may have a credible leg to stand on, when decrying who's good and who's not

No they do not! You can't find a single one of their magazines in which they represent themselves falsely. If you were to join (hahahaha) they would give you a choice of magazines , one concentrates on politics , the other concentrates on hunting, this is a good system because not all gun owners like to discuss politics.

What about the gun grabber platform would make gun owners live forever? If this multiple gun per owner phenomenon bothers you , then you ought to be down on Clinton and Obama , whose empty promises of strict regulation prompted panicked buying and hoarding. Nothing the NRA ever did caused skyrocketing sales.

The NRA is therefore not a force for good.

You are entirely entitled to have this as your opinion, unsupported or supported by facts and intuition.

There is a very strong number of voters persuaded the other way, and strongly so .

I think this is somewhat based on voter experience , there are a lot of us that have had a positive experience with guns , some of us indeed have the lifesaving experience. Firsthand experience can't be trumped by anything.

Another bit of this is the result of intuition, many people share my feeling that confiscating 90% of the guns would result in a bloodbath and confiscating 100% would cause both a tyranny and a healthy black market and smuggling era. It is difficult to produce evidence that this intuition predicts reality, but there is equal difficulty proving it wrong.

The real facts that are available are being twisted and spun without mercy. It is a fact that we own more guns than ever , but this can't be proven to cause an increase in violence , because violence coincidentally has decreased.

Thus because Presidents Clinton and Obama have inadvertently caused the public to hold nearly twice as many guns as they did before, and that this has pretty nearly proven the adage that "more guns equals less crime" Presidents Clinton and Obama can be considered as force for good , in spite of themselves.
