Obituary

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always Temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent Form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until The time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority Always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally Collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a Dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the Beginning of history, has been about 200 years.

During those 200 Years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

The Obituary follows:

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
The last Presidential election:

Number of States won by:         Obama: 19               Romney: 29

Square miles of land won by:    Obama: 580,000      Romney: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million  Romney: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:  Obama: 13.2    Romney: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: In aggregate, the map of the territory Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low Income tenements and living off various forms of government
Welfare.

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of
Democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population Already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase..

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million Criminal invaders called illegal's, and they vote, then we can say Goodbye to the USA in fewer than ten years .

Believe it or not, the Electoral College puts us more on life support, than an obituary.  If not for the Electoral College, this obituary could have been made in 2004, following the 1st 4years of a Gore Presidency.  It's what protects all the smaller states.  Without the Electoral College, Candidates would need only campaign in California, Texas, NY, and Florida, with maybe a brush thru Illinois & Michigan.  That's it.  It would come down to mob majority rule, where the densest of populations, in just a few locations, decide everything, for the entire rest of the country

This is a nation of people, not acreage. The Electoral College is the second dumbest idea the Founding Fathers ever had,  after slavery. Many countries have adopted constitutions like the US, but not one has been so fucking stupid as to imitate the idiotic and undemocratic Electoral College.

You're right...this is a nation of people....ALL people.  including people in Wyoming & Delaware.  Their voices and votes should have just as much say as those voices in California & New York

Our Founders were brilliant in devising the Electoral College, where we're the one country on the globe, that won't be ruled by mob mentality

No one is going to deport 11 million people. Congress will never vote the funds to do it, Many of these people are productive members of our society.
Imagine seeing mothers being separated from their children every night on the news. No matter how illegal these people are, no Congress or president will deport them.

Every voter in Wyoming and Delaware and wherever should have exactly the same power as every voter in NY. CA, FL, TX and wherever.

And every voter does...UNDER THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE.  However, since there are exponentially MORE people in the states of NY, CA, TX, and FL, without an Electoral College, those voters in Wyoming & Delaware would be rendered moot & irrelevent

As I said, the only country on the globe that can not be ruled by mob mentality, where politicans would only cater to the mass population areas

One person, one vote is the true democracy. Real estate is irrelevant.
Delaware is to blame for the most corporate graft per capita. Wyoming holds the record for the most pollution per capita.

Not that either benefits most of the people who live in DE or WY.

The Electoral College is FAIR democracy, where small states have as much say as populated states.  Without it, CA & NY dictate everything the rest of the country must abide by, and politicians would only cater to those states.

We were not a country founded to be ruled by simple mob majority rule.  And thank God and our Founders for that bit of brilliance

No one is going to deport 11 million people.

There is no reason anyone would deport them....that's silly...a red herring of ridiculous diversion
Illegals will self-deport.
They will leave (prompted by new laws) the same way they came.
It's lunacy to argue it can only be a one way street.
That's what the Left tries to lay as the foundation of any argument.
"They are here...so we can't send them back".
Reality is if they came, they can go back the same way they came.
They self illegal immigrated....so they can self-deport.
If you deny all employment, deny all subsidy, deny housing, deny medical care except emergency...
I assure you they will take their asses back to where they came from.
You can't logically say....oh they came here on their own....but it's impossible to go back on their own.

They will not "self deport" Their children are Americans, and most are no longer are as attached to Mexico or wherever as they are to the US. You live in a border town and are surrounded by them, and yet you are as ignorant about them as some yokel from Turnipseed, Alabama who has never left his county.

They will not "self deport"

Sure they can.....and would, if the economics for them to try and remain here illegally was that much impaired & a financial hardship to trying to stay.  And news flash....their children can go with them, so you can squelch the idiocy of conservatives trying to "split up their families"

Really?   How accurate are these figures supposed to be?

This makes it look as if the electoral college was a big benefit to President Obama's election.

It also makes it look as if Obama was drawing the votes of our most violent factions.

Perhaps this is oversimplified , I hate being excluded from the most violent faction.

Not that it matters, but I'm actually over 130miles from the border.  The good professor, wrong, yet again
