Shooting at Jerusalem Seminary Kills 10
Thursday , March 06, 2008

Two gunmen went on a deadly shooting rampage, entering a Jerusalem rabbinical seminary through the dining room and opening fire after nightfall Thursday, killing at least 10 people, health services sources told FOX News.

Israeli media said about 35 people were wounded. Channel 2 TV said police special forces killed the two infiltrators.

Ambulances raced to the scene from around the city. Media reports said many people were wounded. Hundreds of police surrounded the area and searched the campus.

The gunmen entered the library, where about 80 people were gathered, witnesses said, and opened fire. "There are at least seven killed and 10 people wounded," said Eli Dein, director of Israel's rescue service.

Yitzhak Dadon, a student, said he was armed with a rifle and waited on the roof of a nearby building. "He came out of the library spraying automatic fire ... the terrorist came to the entrance and I shot him twice in the head," he said.

In Gaza, the militant Hamas stopped just short of claiming responsibility. "We bless the (Jerusalem) operation. It will not be the last," Hamas said in a statement.

In Gaza City, residents went out into the streets and fired rifles in celebration in the air after hearing news of the attack on the seminary.

The attack came a day after U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice persuaded moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to return to peace talks with Israel. It came on the same day as Egyptian officials were trying to mediate a truce between Palestinian militants and Israel.

Earlier Thursday, Palestinian militants in Gaza set off a bomb on the Gaza border, blowing up an Israeli army jeep and killing a soldier.

Medic Yaron Tzuker said he arrived as the gunfire was still going on. "They were still shooting when we got here," he told Channel 10 TV. "We took cover and the ambulance was hit. It's horrible inside ? dead bodies and wounded ? it's horrific."

Another witness told Israel TV that he heard both single shots and automatic gunfire from inside the building, and it went on about 10 minutes.

The seminary is the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in the Kiryat Moshe quarter at the entrance to Jerusalem, a well-known center of Jewish studies identified with the leadership of the Jewish settlement movement in the West Bank. Most of the students are high school age.

Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben Ruby said, "One or two terrorists infiltrated the Mercaz Harav seminary and opened fire in all directions. One terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire." He said the dead gunman was wearing a vest that at first appeared to be an explosives vest but turned out to be a belt holding extra ammunition.

He said students were evacuated from the building, and police were searching from room to room.

An hour after the attack, medics began removing the bodies of the dead from the building, taking them away in ambulances.

Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski told Channel 2, "It's very sad tonight in Jerusalem ? many people were killed in the heart of Jerusalem."

There were no attacks by Palestinian militants in Jerusalem during 2007, though police and the military claimed to have foiled many attempts. Between 2001 and 2004, at the height of Palestinian-Israeli fighting, Jerusalem was a frequent target of Palestinian attacks, including homicide bombings on buses.

Geeze, it's starting to look like the killing of 100 civilians in Gaza and the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus might not have been such great ideas after all.  Who woulda thunk?

The saying is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

Suddenly the entire landscape is littered with eyeballs, molars and incisors.

Both sides seem to have adopted the motto "Homie don't play", which, of course, just makes for a bloodier game.
"Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana."

Targeting children really takes balls. I can hardly wait for these monsters to get what's coming to them in the after life.

It was a seminary, moron.  A rabbinical school.  With armed student marksmen ("I shot him twice in the head") on the roof.  Fucking drama queen.

Yeah targeting a well known military man that personally plans terror attacks
is a good comparison to targeting young civilian students in the lunch-room
of a religious school. You are one sick puppy.

Some of the 100 victims in Gaza were toddlers and babies.

Yup. Why even bother discussing this with someone who is so obviously disturbed?

Who are you kidding?  You never mentioned the 100 civilian victims in Gaza, some of whom were babies, toddlers and young children.  You don't give a shit.  If they're Arabs, they deserve it and if they're Jews it's a fucking atrocity.  That's the only distinction you are capable of making in this conflict.

"Some of the 100 victims in Gaza were toddlers and babies"

Yes but the huge difference moron is they were not the intended targets.
The students eating lunch at this religious school were the sole targets.
Please show me where Israeli officials actually praise the deaths and targeting of innocent civilians?

The distinction here is the TARGETING ... TARGETING of children.

The Jew haters simply ignore this fact. Why you ask? Good question. I don't know, some of them are obviously delusional, and some simply like the idea of dead Jews, especially Jewish children. I suppose it's because they think the children have it coming. After all, they're Israelis, and therefore guilty of ... everything. No distinctions.

Israel doesn't TARGET children. It's a tragedy when children die in a conflict like this. But then less children would die in Gaza if the terrorist cowards weren't hiding behind them.

oh Really?  I am SO GLAD to hear that.  I'm sure the families will be immensely relieved.  For a moment there I thought the Israelis just did not like them.

I guess the Israelis who fired those rockets and shells had absolutely no idea that some of them would hurt innocent people.  What a God-awful shock it must have been for them to find out that they had killed dozens of innocent people.  After all the precautions they took, too.  Who woulda thunk?

Hey, do ya think if a person is killed totally accidentally, that somehow they're not really dead?
