In other words;
What I said wasn't really what I said.
I'm sorry if you misinterpreted what I was saying by taking it at face value.
Republicans suck.

Right?    ;)

It really takes a demented mind to find that this innocuous and true statement somehow means Kerry was somehow insincere;

Kerry posted this op-ed on the front page of his site, which backs up his original comments that our troops are dumbasses. Kerry meant what he said. He's been belittling our troops for 30 years.

It is not true that you need fewer skills in the military.

In the military it is often your skills that keep you alive in a dangerous situation.

It is fair to say that the military is willing to train you , but for the last two decades thay have become increaseingly choosy and prone to reject to hard to train.

If we were to return to the more lax standards of the late seventys ,when I joined, we might more easily meet quotas for recruiters , but we might have a less usefull force.

I know all too well not to crow prematurely, or at all, but I must take this occasion to note that we are on the brink, as a nation, of banishing RR's and Sirs' brand of soft-issue (non-issue) sophistry to the dustbin where it belongs.

Just responding in kind, Plane.  My apologies if I took slight umbridge towards our resident know-it-all in proclaiming my deductions on Kerry as mere sophistry, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary

Good Find Knute.

These small percentages are liable to be decisive in very close elections , I expect that there will be several such .
