In the case of Texas, it was settled by illegal aliens who revolted against Mexican government rule, set up a phony Texas Republic for a few years and then joined the USA.  Now the Mexicans are gonna get it back the same way.

And Tee, yet again, advocating that the safeties be taken off the weapons' systems, this time the U.S.'s, since its an armed revolt to take place.  It's amazing the amount of other people's bloodshed he's willing to sacrifice.  Quite a noble fella, there

According to wiki, they weren't illegal. Therefore your claim is false.

Hoping that more settlers would reduce the near-constant Comanche raids, Mexican Texas liberalized its immigration policies to permit immigrants from outside Mexico and Spain.[45]  Under the Mexican immigration system, large swathes of land were allotted to empresarios, who recruited settlers from the United States, Europe, and the Mexican interior. The first grant, to Moses Austin, was passed to his son Stephen F. Austin after his death.

Austin's settlers, the Old Three Hundred, made places along the Brazos River in 1822.[46] Twenty-three other empresarios brought settlers to the state, the majority of whom were from the United States.[46][47] The population of Texas grew rapidly. In 1825, Texas had a population of approximately 3,500, with most of Mexican descent.[48] By 1834, Texas had grown to approximately 37,800 people, with only 7,800 of Mexican descent.[49]

from the same article -

<<Many immigrants openly flouted Mexican law, especially the prohibition against slavery. Combined with United States' attempts to purchase Texas, Mexican authorities decided in 1830 to prohibit continued immigration from the United States.[50]  New laws also called for the enforcement of customs duties angering both native Mexican citizens (Tejanos) and recent immigrants.[51]>>

So it was a mix of legal and illegal immigration from the U.S.  Sorta like what you see now in Arizona and Texas, but in a reverse flow.  Thank you for that information.  I stand corrected.

Aliens, legal and illegal, flooded into the land and ultimately revolted against the laws they didn't like, including most prominently the anti-slavery laws.  Nice folks.  Then they became "independent" following their revolt and then they joined the U.S.

Big deal, same way the U.S. got the land, same way they'll lose it.

In order to become independent via revolt, doesn't the revolt have to be successful?

Do you think a majority population of hispanics in California would successfully be able to lead a secession movement and rejoin Mexico?

Not a chance.  Maybe if they hit 50% they won't have to.

What does majority status get them?

The Chicanos have no desire to take over Texas and California and rejoin Mexico. You will not find that Mexican-Americans are fans of the Mexican GOVERNMENT at all. New Mexico has been officially bilingual since it was a part of the US. I imagine that simply having a Chicano majority in Texas, California and perhaps Arizona would be sufficient if the Chicanos had control of the state government. And there is no indication whatever that all Chicanos and Hispanics are any sort of monolithic and united political entity. They agree on somethings, but not on others. The US Balck community is not monolithic, and the Hispanic community much less so than the Black community. They are united in bilingualism and in not being like Kramer, sirs and CU4, but so is most of the human race. No biggie there.

A lot more respect and a government that gives a shit about their thoughts and their feelings, for starters.

I am all for government being sympathetic to its constituents feelings. That is the primary role of government after all.

A majority of the illegal Mexicans immigrants come from the poorer parts of central and southern Mexico, from Michoacan, Morelos, Chiapas, Oaxaca and other places where land is scarce and/or water is erratic. They tend not to come from the more prosperous places, like Mexico City, Monterrey and the border cities. They tend to be mostly Indian in heritage and have been generally ignored by the Mexican government. They do not trust the Mexican government and do not believe that it has ever been on their side. This would be because rural people are normally ignored in Mexico unless they have a lot of money, or there are major resources, factories, tourist spots and other things that attract wealth.

When they come to the US they become impressed with how everything works: the water is drinkable, the rivers do not flood, the electricity is reliable, the roads are smooth and fast. They have no desire to be a part of the Mexico they left.

Many return , and many who do not remain in touch with friends and family.

Is the US a good influence in this way?
