I knew it, Captain Picard is on my side.

Patrick Stewart.

Stewart's politics are rooted in his belief in fairness and equality.[8] He considers himself a socialist and is a member of the Labour Party.[70][71][18] He stated, "My father was a very strong trade unionist and those fundamental issues of Labour were ingrained into me."[70] He has been critical of the Iraq War and UK government legislation in the area of civil liberties, in particular its plans to extend detention without charge to 42 days. He signed an open letter of objection to this proposal in March 2008.[72] Stewart is a distinguished supporter of the British Humanist Association.[73] He also identifies himself as a feminist,[74] and has been a part of campaigns against domestic violence. [75] Additionally, he has publicly advocated the right to assisted suicide.[76] In January 2011, Stewart became a patron for Dignity in Dying and campaigns for an assisted dying law in the UK.[77] In August 2014, Stewart was one of 200 public figures who were signatories to a letter to The Guardian opposing Scottish independence in the run-up to September's referendum on that issue.[78]

Does he believe the bobbies conspire to murder and cover up the deaths of darker-skinned people in police custody?

I would like to know why he was opposed to Scottish independence.

Stewart?

Stewart, not Stuart. Stewart is the original spelling, but Mary Queen of Scots changed it to Stuart because that is the French spelling and she was allied with the French.

Over half of the Scots voted against independence. Patrick Stewart is a Shakespearean actor.

Britain has different racial attitudes and different racial minorities. Each country in the world is unique in its way of dealing with different ethnic groups.

He has played MacBeth many times, according to an interview I recall. Also Hamlet and Lear.
He is a very talented actor.

Some of my ancestors were Stuarts. If I were a Scot, I don't know whether I would vote for independence or not.
UK politics  and economics is a complicated affair that I would need to study more. I do know that the Scottish Parliament has more authority than it used to have.

In England, Bank of England , Bank of  Scotland and Bank of Ireland  5, 10, 20 1nd 50 pound notes circulate randomly. One pound is a coin, not a note.

Hey a lot of my ancestors were Maxwell.
  The guardians of Caerlaverock.

These guys would  have voted for an independent Scotland or against it in alternate generations, sort of swing voters but voting with arrows and pikes.

But I don't know how the issues of that time carry into current politics .

      Probably, they mostly do not.

The British system of divide and conquer worked very well to co-opt a few clans to fight the more unruly ones. The same system was also used in Ireland and later in India. Britain managed to control India with a very small bunch of soldiers and bureaucrats.

This is what Republican'ts dream of doing with Hispanics, but they suck at it, since they fool almost no one except a few diehard Cubans. Now the diehard Cubans are dying off. Most of Miami's Cubans like the new relations with Cuba. Rubio is not very popular, and Cruz is irrelevant.

You are now a self-appointed art critic.

You have revealed one more thing to suck at, sirs, congratulations.

Just note how many or few votes Rubio and Cruz get in the FL primaries.

And like clockwork, wrong again, as my comments have nothing to do with art, although no one is required to be some official critic to critique they want.  No, the art of projection is a mental tactic.  The left uses it adnausuem, when trying to criticize something on the right.  They'll frequently condemn something that they themselves have made into an art form.  Liberal Democrats live off of pitting groups against each other, in the manner of trying to divide & conquer.  And they're actually very good at it

You continue to be stuffed full of crap, sirs.

YOU are the one who used the word "art", though you would be ill pressed to distinguish between Art, Fart, Tarts and Lawn Darts.

I am not "Liberals".

 I am just me.

Captain Picard is with me. I bet the Force is with me as well.

It's still amazing how a "language" professor continue to demonstrate an utter inability to grasp context.  Art has many uses, as in "the art of *inset task here*"  And you are indeed a hard core liberal, representiatve of so many other narrow minded, ideological blinded, automotons

You use words without understanding thr meaning of words.

The ignorant are to ignorant to understand that they are ignorant.
The insane are too crazy to understand that they are bayshit crazy.

They drive down a one-way street going the wrong way, and say "all these people are crazy idiots! They are going the WRONG WAY!"

Such is the affliction of the right wing loon.
