If that test was scored like a regular IQ test, 76 is just about moron.

ASVAB - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Services_Vocational_Aptitude_Battery

The score for each section of the test is a percentile (0-99). Each MOS for different branches of the service require different formula to meet certain scores for entrance. For example, SEALS require GS+MC+EI≥165 or VE+MK+MC+CS≥220.

GSGeneral Science
MCMechanical Comprehension
EIElectronics Information
VEVerbal
MKMathematics Knowledge
CSCoding Speed

but really, we do not eat sausages or cabbage as much as the Germans do.

The Germans don't eat sausage and cabbage as much as the Americans assume they do.

Actually, a German / Austrian diet is heavily slanted towards tubers (the native varieties have been supplanted by potatoes in the last couple of centuries), aliums (onions, leeks, etc), wild greens, pork, veal, and venison. I *might* have eaten sausage and cabbage once a week growing up. Pork roast and veal or pork cutlets were the most common entrees, served with whatever greens were in season. In the winter, soups, stews, and goulashes were common.

"I would argue that we have more cultural ties to Germany."

Ah huh, if you live in Wisconsin.

Or New York. Or New Jersey. Or Maryland. Or Pennsylvania. Or the Carolinas. Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, etc.

I mean, most of the food that Americans eat is derived from German food, not British.

Oddly enough, England is also largely ethnically German, according to recent DNA testing.

The four main invading groups (Angles, Saxons, Vikings, and Normans) are all of German descent, so it only makes sense that there is a large German DNA influx. Only the Normans spoke French (which was the language all the nobles spoke for many centuries in England).

We are related to England by blood. It is our mother country.

I would argue that we have more cultural ties to Germany than to England. Our food and many of our traditions are more similar to German versions than British versions. Only our legal system and language are truly British.

They have satellites and very high-flying aircraft that can accomplish any surveillance that a drone can do. So this thing should never have been over Iran in the first place.

Drones can get views that are not available from higher surveillance sources (notably, looking *under* things from near ground level).

Also, drones can deploy close in weapons that are not available from the other sources.

One test is not going to serve to ascertain how much has been learned for the entire year.

It serves to determine if the student is at grade level, does it not?

It was the way that it was administered, basing performance on only reading, writing and math tests, that caused school administrators to focus on those things and to ignore the rest.

There were also requirements for science tests. And more subject based tests in high school.

And I still don't understand how 1 test a year is a big deal...

We need MORE uniformity between the states, nor (sic) less.

I thought the argument against NCLB was that it imposed central standards that are not good for teaching, according to the Democrats.

Here in Miami until recently, there were guys selling frozen shrimp in 3 lb. bags for $10.00. Of course, those who bought them realized too late that they had been thawed and refrozen with a couple of pounds of water added, so they were buying 8 lbs. of shrimp and 2 lbs or more of water. Even worse, there was no guarantee that they were fresh.

What a deal. Pay for 3 pounds of shrimp and get 8 pounds.

The myth is that a ball of cheese is less dangerous than a cannonball?

The myth in the earlier episode was that a ship's captain had run out of cannonballs during a naval battle and had ordered his crew to use the cheese they had in their hold and fire that out of the cannon. This was successful and he eventually drove off the other ship. They demonstrated that cheese could work very well as cannonballs as it did a fine of shredding the replica sails and punching holes in the replica ship that had been setup.

I'm assuming from what I've read that a number of fans wanted to know what other substances would work as cannonballs as well. To see how well they worked as substitute cannonballs, I assume they would fire real cannonballs at various targets, then fire the substitutes and compare the damage. This would be called "science".

Was there  a myth that a cannonball could not be fired out of a cannon?

In scientific experimentation, there is a concept called a "control".

And they had previously done one about firing balls of cheese out of cannon; I assume that they were "revisiting" this one, as they sometimes do.

Apparently the myth was about what materials could be fired out of a cannon.
