I like to listen to NPR but a serious bias is laughably odvious.

That you see no bias is almost proof that there is bias.

What would you say to someone who stated that Rush Limbaugh was unbiased?

Limbaugh states upfront that he is biased. Anyone that claims that he is unbiased has not heard him talk.

NPR gives all sides of most news stories. They interview all sorts of people. Unlike Limbaugh, they do not ridicule any side of any debate, The facts they give are fair and accurate.

Plane's inquiry still seems to have been missed.  While both sides can continue to rationalize why their pet program shouldn't be defunded, the issue is what would you defund, of your pet programs.

Blue Angels/Thunderbirds out
CPM out

So.......Xo can agree to defund
PP & PBS

Correct?

No, I am never going to agree to defund PBS or NPR in any way. I said I am for raising the price of commercial broadcast licenses to pay they current amount that is paid to fun NPR and PBS.

It is a tiny amount and I consider both NPR and PBS absolutely essential. I'd rather see the president use a taxicab and fly coach than do without them.

Now we can see the classic liberal mindset in action, be it Obama or our own Xo.  NO pet projects of the left can be defunded.  Everything they support is to be supported, regardless

And folks wonder why DC, and in particular liberal democrats, are so dysfunctional

If you met someone unable to hear or see any bias in Rush Limbaugh you would certainly be talking to a far right mindset.

Your mindset is quite far left , your inability to notice any bias there is quite a good proof that they are on your wavelength.

The NPR program "On The Media" recently did a self examand was laughably clueless , they cannot see their own bias , of course they cannot , it is like a fish in the river noticeing that he is wet.

What makes you call its function critical? What are they doing with their government dime that they couldn't do without it? Or why is there no private entity that could cover their beat?

All you have to do to prove that NPR is needed is to listen to the other hundred perfectly awful AM and FM stations. They read headlines at best, they don't come anywhere near covering any sort of the news. Every program of every type is plagued with mindless commercials.

NPR tries to present all sides of every issue. Once an issue is settled, like Global Climate Change and the Birther crap, they
do not harp on it constantly, as though it were actually related to the truth.

I pay taxes. I want NPR and PBS.

I would not compromise with YOU. You are not in charge of anything. What would be the point?

You wouldn't compromise...period, end of story...thus the repetative validation of the typical liberal mindset, as it relates to the current economic abyss that Obama and Liberal Democrats have placed this country in, or Governor Moonbeam and the liberal Democrats in CA

Apparently needing to remind the "professor" again, that this is a debate forum.  Plane, who is also not in a position of authority to actually make deals in DC, or "in charge of anything", was the one initially asking for compromise, from a debate standpoint.  You have demonstrated squat, to that end

Quote
BROOKE GLADSTONE: This week the House of Representatives passed, largely along party lines, a bill that would bar public radio stations from using federal money to buy national programming from NPR or other sources. It was called a political stunt by one House Democrat. Another sponsored an unsuccessful amendment to bar the government from buying ad time on FOX News. That was this week.

Last week, after a sting video emerged showing an NPR fundraiser saying disparaging things about the Tea Party, Republican opposition to public radio heated up, and Ira Glass, host of This American Life, challenged us to tackle what had been oft-charged but rarely addressed by public radio – that it is biased.

IRA GLASS: On the Media, you are the perfect vehicle for this.

[BROOKE LAUGHS]

You were made for this purpose, to measure the political bias of public radio. It needs to be done. You are the only ones.

[BROOKE LAUGHS]

You are the ones best positioned of everyone in the country, in the public radio system, in the world [BROOKE LAUGHS] to do this mission, and I hand it to you. It’s an urgent mission and it needs to be done, and done beautifully.

BROOKE GLADSTONE: What if the answer is yes, NPR has a left-wing bias?

IRA GLASS: It’s not going to be yes.
