If Newt stays in it is because the old fart is on an ego trip. He stays in for the same reason someone else his age might buy a Porsche. He is 65, and a grandfather. After this, he might make money, but this is his last shot and he refuses to enter into geezerhood. He could care less about Romney or Santorum. he could care less for the country. He does not want to admit he is an annoying old geezer: he is no longer the "idea man", he is just an aging crackpot.
'
He is in denial.
Next comes anger, then bargaining (begging to be a VP candidate, perhaps?)

Then depression, and finally acceptance, which in the Newtster's case may be a postmortum experience.

He screwed up bigtime trying to impeach Clinton and shutting the government down. Now, it's payback time.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Newt in a Cabinet Post maybe HHS.

That's FAR more likely than him ever being offered a veep position, much less him accepting it

it would surprise me if Mitt chose Newt for any cabinet position
he's too much of a lightning rod
and would probably get the administration in hot water with his mouth
they'd be better off choosing someone just as conservative but not as polarizing
dont get me wrong...I like Newt....but the guy can really piss people off
Newt doesnt seem the type to play second fiddle very well
he's a prima donna
he may not be a "team player" with the cabinet team
IMO....Mitt would be better off with someone he could trust
Newt will ride out his life giving speeches and doing commentary
not a bad gig
he was Speaker of The House....how many can say that?
but its over as far as elective office.

Gingrich is not any sort of team player. He is like the kid with the only bat in town : disagree with him and he takes his bat and goes home and nobody plays.

If appointed to a cabinet post, he would be gone in under a year.

Not that the Republicans have a chance of getting elected with Rawmoney Romney, a candidate who makes millions of dollars, pays a paltry 14% to the IRS and proposes cutting the only IRS tax he pays to 0%, so he can balance the budget. How stupid is that?
