Well that is interesting , in what way is a great depression not an economic collapse?

If you had been in Weimar Germany or Hungary in the 1923, and in Oklahoma in 1933, you could see the difference. It is a mater of degree.

In Germany and Hungary, the collapse was near total, as the currency of those who did not invest was also worthless, even if they kept it under the mattress.

I am prepared to agree that economic collapse is a matter of degree .

I will even posit that point of view is important, some people have never attained a standard of living as high as Americans would be dismayed with.

Some people in the US have never and will never reach the standard of living that would disappoint the citizens of Dubai.

It is perspective in both directions.
