Well, since this hasn't been made into a poll question, I suppose some mixing and matching can be applied    ;)    I do like the concept.  What kind of MM "overtones" might we expect in a Logan's Run future?

<<Do you honestly think that incoming congressmen are kidnapped and brainwashed before they are sworn in so that they go along with whatever AIPAC wants or do you think that perhaps there is something more at play here?>>

No, it's something even more exotic and complex than that.  They're bought off.  I know, it's really far out to believe, but a few people come to the Congress Critter once every month or two, bringing him fairly large amounts of cash, and tell him that such visits will continue for as long as they're happy with his stand on Israel.  If they're not happy with anyone's stand on Israel, they sponsor someone else to run against him and open up a seemingly bottomless treasury to his campaign.  It's not quite the mystery you like to pretend it is.  You can ask Cynthia McKinney how it works if you have any more questions.

She was run out of office by Indian businessmen . And i am surprised you would bring her up, what with her families long history of ant-semiticism.

How Cynthia McKinnon got shafted and how lies about her just keep on escalating.

<<She was run out of office by Indian businessmen. >>

THAT'S news to me.  What Indian businessmen?  When?

<<And i am surprised you would bring her up, what with her families long history of ant-semiticism.>>

Her families "long history of anti-semitism" seems to consist of her antisemitic dad, who didn't seem nearly as virulent or as antisemitic as Joe Kennedy; well, as JFK said, regarding his dad's antisemitism, "We all have fathers."

Well, who really knows?  Fuck with the Israel lobby and for sure you get fucked back with a multiplier effect.  Did the Indo-Americans also have a hand in her downfall?  Sounds like they contributed something to the effort, but really, once the Lobby sets you up in its sights, the result is a foregone conclusion.  Piling on might have had some contributory effect, but as various studies have demonstrated, the opposition of the Israeli lobby is not survivable.

If you had read the article you would have seen that the Israeli Lobby were the ones piling on, they came in after the seat went into play. Majette had name recognition, she was African American, she was considered sane and the demographics of McKinney's district was changing from urban poor to more middle class.

I did read the article, I just used an inappropriate metaphor, not being a football fan.  Piling on was not appropriate because the time sequence supposedly was Indians first, the Lobby second.  I used "piling on" merely to suggest that the heavyweight (the Lobby) dealt the killer blow, the flyweight (the Indo-Americans) could have lent some weight to the effort, but their total effort wouldn't have counted for much in the result.

so, what's the future gonna look more like, here on earth?

To go back to gaming info, I suspect it will be close to the world documented in this set of supplements:

This supplement assumes these changes will occur over then next century (it's set at the beginning of the 22nd century) - I think it's being a bit optimistic on the time line, I think these changes will take 150-200% longer (150-200 years instead of ~100 years).

The image above is a link (as the Reign of Steel image was as well) - but here is more info from Wikipedia about the setting.

Basically, this was a non-political guy who saw through all the BS, knew what was wrong with the country

The frak he does. The guy is an angry blowhard who is regurgitating protectionist, anti-capitalism, pro-socialism propaganda. He complains about "FUTILE self -righteous indignation" and then proceeds to give a rant that is little else. And apparently he thinks lynch mobs should be killing people with some regular frequency. ("If this nation had any BALLS WHATSOEVER, there would be a trail of DEAD MEN SWINGING FROM THE ENDS OF ROPES leading from AIG, thru WALL STREET, the not-so "Federal" reserve, the 9/11 commission, and right through every other set-up con-job you people just buy into like a bunch of CATTLE BEING LED TO SLAUGHTER.") And he is apparently ignorant of the fact that the health insurance industry is in love with idea of the government making health insurance mandatory.

Needless to say, taking the guy seriously is inadvisable.
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

so, what's the future gonna look more like, here on earth?

If we're looking for a possible dystopic future, I have to go with a confluence of "Fahrenheit 451" (the book more than the film) and "Blade Runner".

<<He complains about "FUTILE self -righteous indignation" and then proceeds to give a rant that is little else. >>

Obviously, you have little understanding of frustrated impotent souls.  I'm plenty frustrated and outraged, can't do a God-damned thing about it (because I recognize the futility of trying, being the realist that I am) and yet nevertheless love to rant and rage and vent and bitch.  WTF else can I do?  My point in singling this guy out was that I felt he represented an untapped audience for somebody with the balls and the genius to earn trust after endless betrayals, give voice to that rage and frustration and build on it.

<<And apparently he thinks lynch mobs should be killing people with some regular frequency. ("If this nation had any BALLS WHATSOEVER, there would be a trail of DEAD MEN SWINGING FROM THE ENDS OF ROPES leading from AIG, thru WALL STREET, the not-so "Federal" reserve, the 9/11 commission, and right through every other set-up con-job you people just buy into like a bunch of CATTLE BEING LED TO SLAUGHTER.")>>

Nonsense.  He's obviously voicing his rage and frustration through the language of violence, at worst, kind of carelessly.  The Chinese execute fraudulent businessmen, no reason they can't be legally executed here, although I don't even think he's calling for executions of any kind here, just using metaphor, perhaps carelessly, to express his anger and rage.  I'll concede that his metaphor leans more toward lynch law than towards legal execution after trial and conviction, but I did not take him literally at his word.  Even if he MEANT lynchings, although I'd certainly want to distance myself from that, my point would remain valid that there is plenty of rage waiting to be harnessed on the left, as the Tea Party movement has harnessed the rage of the racist and fascist right.

<<And he is apparently ignorant of the fact that the health insurance industry is in love with idea of the government making health insurance mandatory.>>

I think at bottom the guy is outraged at all of the compromises that have been made to accommodate the insurance industry, including mandatory coverage being introduced in the absence of a single-payer system.  The present proposals are so badly compromised that they aren't really health-care reform anyway, just some shiny beads dangled before the sheeple as if they were.
