Imagine if this were a Republican.  It'd be 24/7 news, on every MSM broadcast

handle the situation like a relational adult.

can`t say that about some of the mayors in my town. willie brown tackled one dude for pieing.

I think that`s when pieing finally died as a form of political statement.

peeing requires a different approach, possibly an ass whooping might be in order. It depends. I for one feel that elected officials need to take the high road. Now if they are being attacked that is a different story. Pissing or defecating, as a form of attention seeking behavior, can be harmful to ones health, both the pissee and the pisser..

TOLD YA.....

The Dem Congressman is now apologizing trying to save his ass!

"I have seen the video posted on several blogs.
I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved.
Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina,
I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect.
No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does
not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a
civil public discourse."

Rep. Bob Etheridge (NC-02)

Here's the same Dem Congressman that attacked the student talking
in 2007 about "civic engagement" and how "young folks should get involved"

He should have simply given the usual long-winded response that politicians always give. The kid was a smartass, and should have identified himself. I do not consider this to be assault or battery, since no one was harmed physically. I do not see where this congressman had any obligation to answer any questions, just as people who are NOT congressmen have no obligation to answer any questions to unidentified pests.

His apology could not hurt, so he is probably right to have given it.

Good thing you don't work for law enforcement or as a Judge, then

No charges will be filed, and if they are, no penalties or fines will be imposed.
And hell no, I would not bother to hear this stupid case.
No laws were broken in any way.

truefully the definition of assault is so broad that probly everyone of us has been assaulted without our knowledge.

but it probly needs to be this broad to prevent any grey areas when somebody actually does get hurt.

XO you must think the Congressman did not handle this well?
A sitting Congressman asked on a public street whether he supports the President's agenda.
If he did not want to be bothered he should have kept on walking & not respond.
When the student did not answer his question as to who he was
the correct way to handle it is not to grab/touch/hold the student
the Congressman was free to ignore the student
everybody can have a bad day or get angry and act stupid
the Congressman had a bad day and acted very stupid
he apologized...that will probably be enough
at least until election time...then we'll see
