I tend to think that Juniorbush is stupid, and Cheney more stupid than he used to be because of the countereffects of the strong heart medicine he has been taking.

It appears that Juniorbush WANTED to invade Iraq because his Daddy wouldn't, and then asked for all the reasons and justification to do so.

And yet brilliant enough to convince all the other heads of state, the UN, and the vast majority of Congress to go along with his diabolical plan that Saddam had his WMD.  Go figure

Saddam was smart enough to get all of those inspectors out of Iraq and make the case against him possible . He never had a declaired peace , so what could he have ment to do?

Haveing an empty holster was embarrassing to Saddam , he was covering his nakedness all too well, and once free of sanction would very certainly have filled his empty holster with whatever he could have.

Isn't there an old proverb about killing , not wounding, kings?

Sorry sumbitches never convinced me. I was sure that this was all a vast array of lies and half-truths. So go figure again. There was a stink of something rotten about all Juniorbush's allegations. Cheney was like this guy you just instinctivley knew you should not buy a used car from. Rumsfeld's bombast was phoney-sounding, Juniorbush sounded like a guy who had been given a speech to read, that didn;t quite understand what the Hell was going on.

By the way, the UN was insufficiently unconvinced,as it did not vote to participate in the conquest and dethronement of Saddam as it had in the Kuwait War. I hardly think there is any proof that "all the other heads of state" were convinced, either.

Saddam had no nukes, no anthrax, no smallpox, no poison gas, no chemical warfare at all. He was telling the absolute truth when he denied this, but he always wanted his neighbors (Iran, Syria, Turkey, Israel, Saudia, Kuwait) to think that just maybe he was still armed and dangerous.

<<decisions are made with the best info at hand.

<<The director of the cia said wmd's were a slam dunk>>

We've been through this many, many times.

It is extremely unlikely - - I would say possible in theory only  - -  that Bush really accepted Tenant's "slam dunk" assessment.  The likeliest scenario, consistent with the evidence of former staffers and people present at meetings, is that Bush, Cheney and their team decided to invade Iraq, figured out in broad outline what evidence they would need to justify the action and told Tennant their needs.  He orchestrated the cooking up of the necessary opinions, neutralized any conflicting opinions still floating around and then served up his or his agency's "conclusions" to them as ordered.

However, we've gone round the block numerous times on that issue and you're one of the last guys in the U.S.A. who can't see the obvious truth and logic of it, and that's OK because I'm just not gonna waste any  more time on this.  I've given up on you.

But even your alternative theory (Tennant says "it's a slam dunk," Bush buys into it and the U.S. invades) is ludicrous in the extreme.  As if Bush, the C.E.O., deciding life and death, war and peace, would just take Tennant at his word.  Bush was the CEO.  Tennant worked for him.  He had a duty of CEO, especially on such an important issue, to take nothing for granted.  To probe and grill whoever says "slam dunk" but especially the guy at the top.  Given the flimsiness of the case, the fact that crude forgeries had already been produced to support it, the fact that all the information could be traced to a single source, and a very interested single source, the Iraqi National Congress, it's clear that ANY kind of detailed probing would have unravelled the case.  The failure to probe Tennant and detect the fraud would itself (if it ever happened) would have been negligence and dereliction of duty of such a high order of magnitude that impeachment would have been the nation's only appropriate recourse.  They found themselves at war because the "President," the CEO, took Tennant at his word?  TENNANT was effectively the guy who made the decision to go to war against Iraq?  Ridiculous.

Which of course is the strongest indicator that we have that even Bush could not have been that stupid or that negligent.  Obviously he did not interrogate or grill Tenant because he already knew what Tenant had to say.  He and Cheney had TOLD Tennant what to say.  Everyone knows this.  Otherwise everyone would be howling for Tennant's scalp.  Instead, he goes out with a "Medal of Freedom."

Blaming it all on Tennant and "bad intelligence" is real low-class.  "The buck stops here" is something that Bush probably wouldn't even know the meaning of.  But hey, if that's the best lame-ass excuse you can think of to cover an obvious lie, go with it.  Won't help ya none.  He's busted.  Most people have figured out that he lied anyway.

No, no, no.

Remember? Saddam, evil genius that he was, snuck the tens of thousands of tons of chemical and biological weaponry into some valley in Syria or Lebanon where it is being hidden in caves. There it will be distributed to the evil geniuses in terrorist Islamofascist cells all over the world and used against freedom-loving people everywhere.

None of us are safe.

I suggest purchasing a bomb shelter and NBC safe gear as soon as possible. Oh, and duct tape and plastic too.

Also, this justifies all torture and all Palestinians of any age or gender that are killed by an Israeli under any conditions.

perhaps we should tax the rich so that we can provide personal security to those without the means to provide their own.

No, we wouldn't want to impugn on the wealthy because they are so obviously superior to the working class. If anything we should make a holiday where a lottery is held and the winner (from the working class of course) is awarded the honor of graciously throwing himself or herself upon a golden, bejeweled spear in a stadium with the capacity to seat say, the top 65,000 wealthiest Americans. That can be the climactic ending to some sort of carnival of games to celebrate the opulence of the wealthy.

I mean, we all owe our existence to their greatness after all.
