Israel is fine with the status quo. They have a state of their own, they keep expanding into East Jerusalem with just meek warnings from the international community, and can still count on the support of the United States financially and diplomatically.

For the Palestinians, however, the situation as it stands is unbearable. The West Bank is developing infrastructure and trying to improve its economy so that a new independent Palestinian state, if or when it comes, can hit the ground running. The Gaza Strip, however, is still in a shambles, under economic blockade. While Hamas seethes in Gaza, the moderate Fatah leaders in the West Bank have exhaust most of their political capital to invest in increasingly fruitless negotiations.
