Sarah Palin Scores Trademark Status

June 20, 2011 10:40 AM

ABC News? Sheila Marikar (@SheilaYM) reports:

Don?t try slapping Sarah Palin?s name on a t-shirt (or a bus). She?ll soon be Sarah Palin?.

Last year, an attorney for Sarah and Bristol Palin filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark their names. Palin?s application cited  two instances in which her name would be a registered trademark: The first for "information about political elections" and "providing a website featuring information about political issues,? the second "educational and entertainment services including ?motivational speaking.?

The application for Bristol, Palin?s 20-year-old daughter, covers "educational and entertainment services, namely, providing motivational speaking services in the field of life choices."

The deadline to challenge Bristol Palin?s application passed June 10, the deadline to challenge Sarah Palin?s passed  on Friday. That means both Palins should receive their trademark within three months, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

I wonder if this trademarking would protect her against
the Left's nasty tactics of websites for example that might
be entitled "www.SarahPalinIsaWhore.com"?

This is absurd.

No public figure should be allowed  to trademark their name.

All that has to happen is that someone produces something with Caribou Barbie's name on it and she takes them to court, and then she loses.

Public figures cannot sue for their names being used contrary to their wishes.

And of course, she did not copyright The Tundra Tart, the Fishmonger's Wife, or Caribou Barbie.

I thought you said her 15 minutes of fame expired. I guess you were wrong yet again.

She has gone from being taken seriously by maybe 30% of the population to being a plumper, more ditzy version of Anne Coulter, a Hanna Montana of the Tea Party. She will never be elected to anything again. You took her picture off your logo in here.

She is nothing more than a professional celebrity, famous for being famous. Disney copyrighted the name Hanna Montana because their lawyers told them it was easier than copyrighting the name Mylie Cyrus (not her real name, by the way).

Anyone who runs for public office will be an object of interest for the public, and so the press will try to find an interesting story about them. There is nothing new about this.

Bachmann said she was against the minimum wage. She said that the Lion King was gay propaganda.

assuming you are right what bearing does that have on her being president? Can she as president repeal minimum wage?
For all I know she could be correct about Lion King, it seems rather gay to me anyway. I did see it in Vegas and liked it though.

There was no "2 John Waynes" mistake.
There was a mistake about where in Iowa John Wayne was born.
OMG....such a grand mistake!  ::)

John Wayne Gacy was cleverly brought into this by Soros Leftists
out to destroy conservative women and conservative blacks.
