Great news for the party of dependents

The U.S. poverty rate has risen to 15.1%, the highest since 1983, the U.S. Census Bureau reports.

Trudi Renwick, the bureau's chief of the Poverty Statistics Branch, says "the single most important factor" in the increase in poverty might be the increase in the number of people who did not work at all last year.

Renwick says the number of people over 16 who did not work at least one week increased from 83.3 million in 2009 to 86.7 million last year.

the plan is complex and began with making people ignorant or shall I say dumbing down the masses.

...and ends when there's a majority of the electorate either working for or beholden to Government for their livelyhood, if not survivial

FYI, half the people considered poor own a home, 3/4 own a flat screen TV, a DVD Player,  and 1 car, and don't pay income tax. Go figure that one out...

You can buy a DVD player, new for under $30. TV's and cars can be bought used for very little, check craigslist.

People are taxed on income, not what morons consider signs of profligate wealth.

maybe banks need to rethink the concept of easy credit? I still get throse checks in the mail to help pay my bills. I believe those are the primary income of ID thieves.

==========================================
Perhaps some people get money this way, but most ID thieves seem to seek out the ID's of cardholders who pay their bills, because most people with bad credit do not get such things in the mail. I get those credit card cash advance checks, too, but I have never used one. I shred them before I throw them away.
I did get billed for buying two tanks of Diesel instead of one on the same day, but I reported it, it was taken off my bill and I have never used that Sunoco station again.

At the moment banks are sitting on a huge amount of money and not lending it out to businesses and people trying to buy houses. Credit cards seem to be the only way that they lend money, but these are small amounts.

Actually bad credit will not save you from id thieves. I know someone with lousy credit and even cancelled her checking account.but still somebody able to get money from her checking account.
Being paranoid about your money is notbexctly a badthing nowadays

How could anyone get money from a cancelled checking account?

That sounds very unlikely.

I agree that it pays to be careful, but this sees impossible.
