Michael Moore's Massive Michigan Vacation Mansion
Beyond 99 Percent's Wildest Dreams

by Andrew Breitbart

Left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore has been touring Occupy Wall Street demonstrations across the country, including some of the most violent, such as Occupy Oakland urging activists to continue their fight against the wealthy "one percent" of Americans.

Initially, Moore tried to deny that his massive wealth made him a member of that one percent. Even when forced to admit the obvious, Moore suggested that he was not always among the one percent, based on his income: "Other years, like last year, I don't have a job (no movie, no book) and so I make a lot less."

The fact is that Moore is so wealthy that he does not need to worry about his income. According to public tax records, Moore owns a massive vacation home on Torch Lake, Michigan?one of the most elite communities in the United States, in addition to his posh Manhattan residence.

Through an independent source, Big Hollywood has obtained exclusive photographs of the house matching the address of Moore's waterfront mansion. It is the kind of luxurious summer home that 99 percent of Americans can only dream of owning.

Moore's vacation property is located on the southeastern shore of Torch Lake itself, which locals tout as the "third most beautiful lake in the world." Here is an aerial view of the house, situated on the turquoise blue waters for which Torch Lake is famous:

Property values on Torch Lake, according to one real estate website, range "from $400,000 to plus $3 million."

Moore's property has been officially assessed at close to $1 million (see below; we have redacted Moore's addresses and parcel number). That is likely a gross underestimate, but nevertheless places Moore's vacation home near the top one percent of home values in affluent Forest Home Township, and among the upper crust of residential properties in the state of Michigan. (Update 11/11/11: Several readers have pointed out that in Michigan, the S.E.V. is half the estimated fair market value of the home, so Moore?s Torch Lake vacation home is likely worth close to $2 million.)

In addition, according to statistics from 2009, Forest Home Township has no black residents. The township is roughly 98 percent white. Call that 99 percent, and Moore's claim to be among "the 99 percent" begins to have some basis in reality.

No one begrudges Moore his wealth, but it is deceitful for him to claim poverty while encouraging class warfare among other Americans. It is also purely narcissistic and selfish for Moore to back radical and destructive socialist policies that would deny other Americans the opportunity to become as rich as he is.

Below are some additional photographs of Moore's vacation home in Torch Lake. The first shows the front entrance to the property; we have decided not to include a photograph of Moore's mailbox, which features an address matching the one on the property assessment. The second and third photographs show alternate perspectives of Moore's home and property when viewed from Torch Lake.

Most of Americas wealthy have in one way or another found a way to give the people something that they need or want.
Michiel Moore has found a way to stroke the resentment that a lot of people get from watching too much TV and feeling as if they really belong in Malibu.
This being a free country , that I consider that kinda unetrhical carrys no penalty .

This is as it should be , the thing that would improve the situation is better education, which I really wish were not so difficult.

Uhm
The dude is from flint. People of that life are supposed to live large when money come thier way. If anything playing down his wealth would offend his towns folks. His lifestyle is pretty much inline with his roots.

Capitalism is defined as living off one's investments. Moore is not against honest competition, he is against dishonest competition. Does Moore lobby Congress for special favors? Does Moore dodge paying taxes? Does Moore take out "dead peasant" insurance on his employees?

Breitbart should go get stuffed.

Moore has done nothing wrong. He can buy any sort of home that he wishes.

I hope he would like that.
But would he attack a job producer.

Moore has a particular niche in the market for films and TV shows.

Competing with a movie producer/director is possible, but it is unlikely that anyone could make a film like Moore's that would cause people to see it in lieu of Moore's films. Movie tickets and DVDs are not expensive. Most people could afford to see Moore's film AND the competing film/

I don't think anyone could wreck Spielberg,Polanski or Pixar with competing films. The movie industry just doesn't work that way.

Moore's an idiot, albeit a 1% idiot.  His efforts on some talk show where he trying to claim he wasn't a member of the 1% club, was beyond ignorant......it was idiocy in the highest order

He probably does not belong to the top 1%. It takes LOTS of money to belong.

He is smarter than you, sirs. His political opinions have caused him to make millions. Yours have mostly resulted only in people thinking of you as a nut case that quibbles over nonsense until people give up and drift away.

Moore is not ignorant, nor is he an idiot, even though you disagree with him.

It only takes about $380,000 to be in the top 1%.  Moore is way up their, in the upper tier of that 1%, which is why he can afford such mansions and luxuries, while he ignorantly condemns the very economic model that brought about his entering into the 1%.  His ignorance and idiocy are founded in his fringe lunatic liberal idiology

I believe several docs has been made attacking moore's image, but he it had no effect so far. The problem is he's not exactly fake.all the problems in his hometown actually happened and it happen in alot of places in america .meaning most of his supporters are anybody who lost a job. Financially he's one percent but his roots are still the 99%

his status will change when he starts snubbing his own kind.
Note we never hear him doing that

So what if Moore is a "traitor to his income group"?

He is not required to behave as sirs demands.

sirs seems to be seething with jealousy and hate.

What am I wrong about? That Cain is an ideal president because he does not importune women?
That there is no valid evidence that voice stress analysis proves anything? That Cain has passed a test unaware that he has even taken a test?

That Michael Moore is not an effective producer and director of documentary films?

That Michael Moore does not have the right to buy any home he chooses?

That sirs is less successful at capitalism than Moore?

That sirs is not seething with envy and hate that someone like Moore can outpace him at his own game?

That sirs is even unaware that it is THREE HOURS LATER where I am than where sirs is? Yews, sirs, it is so: I get sunlight three hours before you, every day.
