Welcome to the idiocracy.

I challenge anyone in here to watch msnbc evening shows for a wek and not have a barely controllable urge to just shoot your tv.

Sounds like a perfect description of the 'baggers to me.

It would seem Xo has his own personal definition of "perfection" as referenced in another thread

It is certainly true of some 'baggers.

I don't think this is an issue of any importance to me.

Janeane wasn't so careful in parsing her statement though, was she?

It does not take much to ridicule the teabaggers.

No but it would be helpful if the target of the ridicule was accurate and not based on some SNL skit.

The teabaggers often resemble an SNL skit to the degree that they are indistinguishable from one.

Like the TV preachers on Trinity Broadcasting, there are those people who it is impossible to parody because they are already parodies of themselves. Have you ever seen Benny Hinn? How would anyone ever be able to parody him?

Michelle Bachmann approaches insanity to almost the same degree. Gingrich mentions that families of immigrants living here for 20 years should not be deported and she interprets this to mean that all illegals will be given amnesty.

What makes you think Bachmann and Gingrich are tea party?

Both Bachmann and Gingrich want tea party support. Gingrich is clearly an insider, taking over a million dollars to be a "historian" for Freddie Mack. He is clearly no Tea Partier. But he is unprincipled enough to claim allegiance to them if it would get him the nomination. He also might sell his granny into slavery for the same goal.

Bachmann is very close to insane and some sort of religious kook, as are some of the Teasies. She may be insane in a different way, though. There is no really clear definition of the Tea party, other than they despise Obama, think they are overtaxed, and demand a balanced budget.  They oppose gay people in the military, oppose gay marriage, and most of them are strictly against abortions. They seem to have no clear plan for doing anything, though.

I am not sure that it is accurate to call Bachmann a Teabagger. She might call herself one.

If it isn't accurate to call them tea partiers why bring them up for ridicule along with Benny Hinn when discussing Garafalo's self serving inaccurate rant.

Garafalo is a comedian. The Teabaggers are also comedians, in that they are laughed at. Benny Hinn is also ludicrous. But Bachmann is the only one that conceivably might get elected to something, and perhaps the 'baggers might get anouter moroin in the Senate or the House.

I do not take any of them very seriously.

The 60 congressmen and 6 Senators who lost their seats to Tea Party sponsored Republicans probably don't think the Tea Party is a laughing matter.

Garofalo is a professional liberal whose anti main street schtick only plays well on shows like Olbermann on Current TV
