Cashiered Former Army Lieutenant Colonel was not paying attention: there was a LOT of condemnation of both incidents. They made a movie about Black Hawk Down.

And of course, the US purports to be superior to their Muslim enemies and two wrongs do not make a right.

West is a santimonious prick and a future one-term EX congressmen.

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

former Army Lieutenant Colonel, Allen West

The only part of that post I might agree with is the punishment. As for the rest, I don't care if he's godallmighty, he can kiss my ass.

I concur with the punishment.

====================================================

How about having them apologize to the families of the men whose corpses they peed on?

That would make more sense. The primary offended parties were the ones they peed on. Making them sing their Hymn seems to be a rather silly element of a punishment. It borders on the Monty Pythonesque.

The Marines claim that they have identified the FOUR Marines, but there were apparently FIVE, since it is clear from the video that the camera was handheld and not on automatic, because it jiggles too much to have been on a tripod. Taping this was also very, very stupid.

How about a general courts-martial and a less than honorable discharge?

From the time one goes into the military, they are taught that there are certain rules of conduct that are not to be violated, even during wartime. They are also covered under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. What they did was technically desecrating the corpses of the ead enemy. What they could be held up to is a general courts-martial and dismissal from the service, not to mention time in the stockade.

Anything less than that is letting them off light.

What war did you fight in that makes you such an expert on what they go through?

The fact that they did this will in all probability make what their fellow Marines, soldiers and sailors have to go through a lot more difficult.

As for giving them a medal, that would be like rewarding them for puking in the punchbowl.

Anyone who has themselves decorated with such a hideous tattoo would appear to have something wrong with him.

I had the same conclusion about Tupac Shakur's ghastly "THUG LIFE" tattoo.

People have the right to get ugly tattoos, but that does not cause me to take them seriously.

getting their brains blown out by these same Taliban bastards

What war did you fight in that makes you such an expert on what they go through?
Never claimed to be an "expert"
Perhaps I served in the same war as the United States Commander-In-Chief.
But thats such a bozo weak argument anyway....  ::)
It's 2012....you dont have to be a civil war veteran to be knowledgeable on the civil war

And in the scope of things important..maybe it would be nice to see
the same enthusiastic outrage when these animals that Obama calls the
"Tall-Eeeee-Bonn" line up a bunch of police officers for a mass execution!

War is a serious business. It's not a place for children to play games. Peeing on enemy corpses is about as childish as you can get. And as XO pointed out, that kind of thing makes a bad situation worse.

There was a Marine unit in Vietnam, often referred to as the Walking Dead, that desecrated some NVA corpses in 1966. That unit was mauled continually by the NVA for the next 4 years.

Not doing things like that falls minimally under the heading of Enlightened Self Interest.

The main difference is that no one elected YOU president or nominated you for Secretary of State.
I think we can all be grateful for this.

Peeing on corpses of the enemy is stupid. Making a video is doubly so.

It cannot serve except to defeat the image and the reason we are in Afghanistan in the first place.

I am guessing that the comment about "Reagan cowboy wannabe" is related to your choice of a picture of Reagan posing as a wannabe cowboy.

Reagan was no wannbe anything.
The man sometimes enjoyed riding horse & wearing a cowboy hat
is that not allowed without judgement and insult?
Is everybody that wears a baseball cap a baseball wannabe?...LOL...fricking ridiculous.
Is Obama an NBA basketball wannabe because he enjoys shooting some hoops?
Because someone enjoys riding a horse or wearing a cowboy hat
doesnt equate to them "wanting to be anything"
I love to wear my cowboy hat when I'm out fishing or in my boat.
Some people wear hats...all different hats....some dont
it's whatever one enjoys/likes....no need to put down people
because it's something you dont do.....2EachHisOwnLeaveOthersAlone

Reagan was an actor. His career was being a wannabe everything. He was a wannabe president as well.

Reagan was an actor.
So?
Kennedy was a spoiled rich kid...so was Gore.
It wouldn't matter what Reagan did before, you would still hate him.
Quit hiding behind BS left wing talking points....you hated Reagan
for what he stood for and try to belittle him with tactics of personal
destruction.

His career was being a wannabe everything.
Yeah sure...and then there is reality. Ronald Reagan was elected and then re-elected Governor
of one of the largest and most powerful states in the country.
Then he went on to be elected and re-elected as President of the United States. Some wannabe!
