The NRA speaks, let them duke it our with Norquist
« on: December 21, 2012, 02:22:13 PM »
The problem is too damn many guns. The NRA is largely responsible for this.

There are guns everywhere. People buy guns and more guns, many are stolen and not registered to their owners, many are inherited and given away or kept and not registered, but that does not render them nonlethal.

So I say, yeah, put those cops in the schools, and pay for every last cent of the cost with LICENSE FEES paid on each and every gun, bullet and ammo clip owned, ALL of which must be registered.

If that does not work, raise the license fees in any area proportionate with the number of gun deaths.

Gun-toting assholes caused the problem, let gun-loving assholes PAY for the solution.

And let's have a registry of insane people who are banned from owning any gun, clip or bullet as well.

More guns is not a solution to this, any more than forest fires can be prevented by passing out free matches.

Let the jackasses pay for their jackassical behavior.

As I said, ignorance is the home of the left, on so many issues, guns currently leading the charge.  FACTS and STATS defy pretty much your entire rant, since if we have all these guns, as you claim as the problem, we would have shot ourselves into a 3rd world country by now.

But instead, with even more guns in this counrty, our violent crome rate GOES DOWN, while locations with far stricter gun laws GOES UP.  The areas here in the U.S. where these mass shootings do occur most often occur in areas that are designated as "gun free zones", while areas with more permissive gun laws has seen their crime GO DOWN

Your effort to paintbrush gun owners, and even those who chose not to own a gun, but do support the 2nd amendment right for some to chose one for themself, as jackassical behavior, is flagrant ignorance, based on so many facts and common sense to the contrary

Here is the appropriate Spanish proverb: Tomas chocolate y pagas lo que debes.
You drink chocolate, and you pay for what you owe.

You asshole gunfreaks caused the oversupply of guns, and are responsible for cleaning up the mess that you made.

It is aggressively stupid to claim that your pistol-toting gunfreaks are making anyone safer. Thousands of Americans are killed by guns each and every year. Your stupid rant that guns make us safer is just that: a stupid rant.

The NRA is a large part of the problem. It has a sweetheart deal with the gun industry to peddle guns, ammo and gun accessories, INCLUDING the Newton murder weapon, and if is these bozos think that we must have armed guards in every school, then they are the clowns that must pay for the costs.

Gun owners already do.

You asshole gunfreaks caused the oversupply of guns, and are responsible for cleaning up the mess that you made.

See what I mean....that paintbrush can't get much bigger, as all the stats and facts shred the brush into splinters.  You anti-constitutional control freaks demonstrate the height of ignorance

It is aggressively stupid to claim that your pistol-toting gunfreaks are making anyone safer.

I don't have to claim it.....FACTS do, mius all the flowery hyperbolic adjectives

Thousands of Americans are killed by guns each and every year.

And FAR MORE are safed by guns each and every year.  That's a FACT.  Not, but the FBI's

Your stupid rant that guns make us safer is just that: a stupid rant.

Facts are they do, for those who are of the law abiding responsible type

The NRA is a large part of the problem. ..., and if is these bozos think that we must have armed guards in every school, then they are the clowns that must pay for the costs.

You keep missing the OPTION part.  No one is saying we have to put an armed guard into every school, merely that its a GREAT idea.  Let the schools and state governments roll the litigative dice if they choose not to.  Of course that sure seems to run counter how important it supposedly is that we better protect the children, but hey, that's what budgets are for

No one is saying we have to put an armed guard into every school,

That is PRECISELY what the idiot NRA chief said: a guard in every school by the time schools reopen in January.

All it means is that crazy gun-toting murderers wishing to massacre children can concentrate on Chuck E Cheese restaurants, and of course, Sunday school classes.

You have had an epiphany?

Yes , if the schools are guarded these jokers will go to another gun free zone.

Why should elementary schools be made the most vunerable of all places?

Do we actually have something more valuable ?

"gun toting murderers" are by definition criminals, and make up a miniscule fraction of law abiding gun owners.  But you're on the right track, in that making the schools safer with some armed resistance is far more likely to prevent such acts at schools in the future, and turn those criminals into another....gun free zone direction

There are not enough police in this country to guard every place that might occur to even a feeble-minded gun-toting maniac.

The to NRA clown is full of crap.

UNLESS we tax the gun owners to pay for all those guards this imbecile thinks will solve the problem.

Naaa...if we're going to stick to the irrational targeting folks with the absurdity of more taxes, let's target the Teachers unions, whose responsibility is that of the children.  Yea that's it

I could see this working.

If gun sales continue at the rate they have been growing for the past few decades, a relitively small tax on firearms and ammunition could pay a large portion of the needed funds.

Yes ,....
... and decades of harsh gun controll will not absolutely eliminate the guns availible to shoot up a restraunt or sporting event or school.

But it would take little effort to enshure that there were multiple responsible persons armed at all such locations , volenteers already do somewhat, and with proper encouragement they could do more.

Numbers are scarce, but here are a few. If you squint just right it looks as if the armed public is already doing a good job.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/2012/02/21/disarming-the-myths-promoted-by-the-gun-control-lobby/2/
Quote
gun control proponents often argue that having a gun put people at risk because a criminal will take it away and use it against them, it seems the reality is more often to be the reverse situation. The Cato data contains only 11 stories out of 4,699 where a criminal took a gun away from a defender, but 277 where the intended victim disarmed the bad guy, although the authors acknowledge that these event reports may be printed more frequently due to newsworthiness.

Still, it should also be remembered that the threatened party often has more motivation to fight back than a criminal hoping for an easy score. There were 25 news reports where armed rape attack victims ultimately got the upper hand, and 65 where this occurred in carjacking attempts.

Then there is the argument that more private gun ownership will lead to more accidents because the average citizen isn’t sufficiently trained to use a weapon defensively. While gun accidents do occur, the Cato study indicates that they are the most overstated risks. There were 535 accidental firearms deaths in 2006 within a population of almost 300 million people. Although every lost life is tragic, the proportion is not particularly startling.

On the other hand, Newsweek has reported that law-abiding American citizens using guns in self-defense during 2003 shot and killed two and one-half times as many criminals as police did, and with fewer than one-fifth as many incidents as police where an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal (2% versus 11%).
