56CM6843 - 56 FOOT WORK BOAT

Sale-Lot Number:31QSCI13046001
State:VA
Current Bid: 20,000 USD

  What a daydream.

A business I could live on , busy and moneymaking and usefull.

First thing I would do , Inspect and repair and move it to Savannah, hire son who is qualified harbor pilot and tug captain.

I was in boat maintenience in the Navy , we two would be half the necessacery crew.

Alas , I don't have the cash, or the nerve , but I expect someone will.

That is one ugly boat.

Perhaps a useful boat, perhaps a fun boat, but ugly nonetheless.

$20K sounds like a bargain price.

I doubt it would sell at just 20,000 the auction is still going on.

It is a tugboat, not a tipical tug , underpowered , but servicable.

In a busy harbor there are a lot of small loads that need to be shuttled about on scows and barges .

It could serve as a tug on smaller ships , you would need the full size for the big ones.

In truth it is the need for maintenience is what kills most businesses of this type , and this boat is already old , the owner needs to be a diesel expert and a good sailor , the crew will spend a lot of time scraping and painting .

I am only daydreaming , I don't have nearly the funds to risk.

In a few years Sanannah will be improved , if the project is successfull the ship traffic wil increase a lot and business for harborpilot and tugs will be great.

This is a lot more Tugboat.
A seagoing tug is a big tug ,needs a crew of about 10 and is capable of towing the biggest ships they make solo.

This would cost a lot more to aquire and run , so you would need to keep it busy to pay for itself and fuel and crews pay.

Probly the buyer will have a long term loan to pay also.
