How's those massive gun laws doing in Chicago?
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:17:28 PM »
I mean with the incredible amount of gun laws and restrictions on the books, for IL in general, and Chicago especially, it should be one of the safety cities in the country, right?

Looks like CA wants to catch up to just how "safe" IL is

The United Kingdom is often held up as a successful example of gun control by those on the left.  But a recent poll by the Daily Telegraph, one of England’s most widely-read publications, shows Britons themselves are far from sold on the laws.

In a poll asking readers what laws they would like to see introduced or changed, an overwhelming number of voters chose “repeal the ban on hand guns and re-open shooting clubs.”

“After all, why should only criminals be ‘allowed’ to possess guns and shoot unarmed, defenceless citizens and police officers?” reader Colliemum wrote......

eh,.....   just an unscientific poll, the results of which ensure that there will never be a scientific poll on this subject.

The fact remains that one is 15 times less likely to die from a gun in Hawaii (the only state where guns are not easily imported) than in Louisiana.

sirs will be never be put in charge of UK gun restrictions. That is a fact that I am sure would delight every Brit.

So you think that Hawiians would become more violent if they had a lot more guns?

Do you think that Barak H. Obama would shoot someone if he was holding a gun all the time?

I believe that if Hawaiians had more guns, more Hawaiians would get shot with guns, yes.

The remark about the President was just stupid. No one holds a gun all the time, nor should they.
It is like saying that if you were to wear a gauze tutu all the time, would you be more likely to perform a grande jetté or do pliés?
Just dumb.

Yes it is just dumb to think that holding a gun changes the human nature of a person, if Barak H. Obama is peacefull without a gun , he is probly also peacefull with a gun.

When Hawiians had no guns at all, before they met Captain Cook, they had wars and died in violence, but these wars were perfect , good , wonderfull things because the violence did not involve guns.

The number of guns percapata in the US has pretty much doubbled since the early 90s, while the rates percapata of violent death have fallen pretty evenly across the same place and period.

It really is dumb to expect that more guns in Hawii would cause more violence in Hawii, it is a position that has no science , logic or any kind of evidence involved, it only seems other than dumb to a reasonably intelligent fellow because he fails to examine it with science or logic.

The fact also remains that, that in this country, areas with much stricter gun laws have much higher crimes than those areas with far more permissive gun laws

The fact also remains that far more lives are saved in this country with a gun, than those taken

Reality is a tough one to handle, when this issue comes up.  That's why responses are so often covered with emotion and misdirected strawmen

I consider it a fact that strong gun restrictions are unpopular with the American people.

This along with the strong protection the right has in the constitution ought to moot the question.

But one might still discuss the reasons that the right was so strongly protected , why it should still be so and what the consequences of having it otherwise might be.

I think our founders were mindfull of the possibility that the government could grow repressive , and wanted the people to pose a direct threat to this potential.
