it really shows what a great job the Left does at concealing the truth.

The Left's foundation is to conceal the truth via intimidation, race-baiting,
gvt freebie bribery, and demonization all in the name of gaining more control
over the population.

Yep, pretty much.  And there in lies also, the greatest evidence of the predominant mainstream media bias....not what they do report, but what they don't report

Justifiable homicides
The number of justifiable homicides declined through 2000 and
has seen slight increases since then
? The number of justifiable homicides of felons committed by
police exceeded the number committed by citizens ( gure 51).
? In the last 10 years, the number of justifiable homicides has
increased by 25.4% from 500 in 1999 to 630 in 2008

http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/htus8008.pdf#page=27

Trends by city size
Changes in homicide trends have been driven by changes in
the number of homicides in large American cities
From 1980 to 2008—
? Over half of homicides (57.7%) occurred in cities with a
population of 100,000 or more .
? More than a third of all homicides in large cities occurred in the
biggest cities (those with a population of 1 million or more).
In large cities of all sizes, the homicide victimization rate has
declined steadily since the early 1990s
The homicide victimization rate—
? in cities with a population of 1 million or more dropped
dramatically from 35.5 homicides per 100,000 U.S. residents
in 1991 to an all-time low of 11.9 homicides per 100,000 U.S.
residents in 2008
? in cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999 was the lowest
among large cities, ranging from a high of 15.0 homicides per
100,000 in 1994 to a low of 8.8 homicides per 100,000 in 2008.
As with the victimization rate in large cities, the homicide
o ending rate has also declined since the early 1990s
The homicide off ending rate in cities with a population of—
? 1 million or more dropped from 45 off enders per 100,000 U.S.
residents in 1991 to an all-time low of 12 off enders per 100,000
U.S. residents in 2008
? 500,000 to 999,999 increased between 2004 (14.5 off enders per
100,000) and 2008 (17.8 off enders per 100,000), but remained
below the off ending rates from the late 1980s and early 1990s,
which averaged around 22 off enders per 100,000.

The average age has risen during this period, and of course there are fewer veterans.  Veterans have better aim and almost certainly a larger incidence of wanting to solve problems with guns.

Aren't veterans less likely to kill the youth of Chicago than the police of Chicago?

Quote
I heard a National Public Radio piece a few months ago, saying that, "Over a hundred veterans have come home and committed murder!" Think about that for a minute... We've had over 2 million Americans in the war zone, and are currently in our 10th year of war. The Federal Bureau of Justice Statistics tells us that the homicide rate for Americans between ages 18-25 is around 25-per-100,000. (http://bjs. ojp.usdoj.gov/content/homicide/tables/ oagetab.cfm) So, out of any million Americans in that age group, there should be around 250 murders per year. Out of 2 million, there should have been 500 murders. Extrapolate that back across 10 years of war, and there should have been, statistically speaking, thousands of murders by this population group. All they "proved" is that the murder rate for our vets is less than a tenth of that for other citizens of the same age! (Which is pretty much keeps with the stats from our past wars.)

Quote
Chicago’s inspector general and the people at Chicago Magazine did NOT believe it. This year, the IG’s office finalized an audit of assault related crimes in the city during 2012. The audit found that “…the department under-counted aggravated assaults and batteries by more than 24 percent, based on the sample cases reviewed.” Chicago Magazine discovered examples of 10 murders, people “…who were beaten, burned, suffocated, or shot to death in 2013 and whose cases were reclassified as death investigations, downgraded to more minor crimes, or even closed as noncriminal incidents…”

In short, Police Superintendent McCarthy and department higher-ups accomplished their remarkable, 3 year reduction in crime by–to put it charitably–”…changing how certain crimes are categorized.” For example, homicides as initially reported by case officers would be quietly downgraded to non-criminal events.  Chicago Magazine reported that “…many officers of different ranks and from different parts of the city recounted instances in which they were asked or pressured by their superiors to reclassify their incident reports or in which their reports were changed by some invisible hand. One detective refers to the “magic ink:” the power to make a case disappear.”

That opinion on the unsubstantiated connection aside, has absolutely no bearing on the point being made....that of despite MORE guns in this country, and MORE legal sales of guns, violent crime has been coming down.....except of course in those areas where legal gun ownership is heavily regulated, if not restricted....leaving of course the criminal as the only one armed...see Chicago & DC

The reason for gun crime in Chicago is NOT because of any laws against guns. The guns in Chicago and DC, including those owned by peaceful citizens, are most likely unregistered and purchased elsewhere.

It's actually PRECISELY about gun laws in places like Chicago & DC, where the heavy restrictions impact the LEGAL person's ability to better defend themselves, since they're abiding by the laws of those cities, while the criminal could care less what laws they're breaking

Chicago and DC have some of the most restrictive gun regulation this nation has ever seen.

It is probably more than the constitution really allows, but the people there are allowing this right to evaporate because they are such severe Democrats.

So you don't believe that these laws cause the violence, do you believe that these laws impede the violence at all?

I do not believe that allowing people in DC or Chicago would cause the crime rate to change much. Murder is a cultural phenomena. Guns simply make violence easier to practice.

That is true , but it is also true that firearms can make violence harder to practice.
