Somewhere in the neighborhood of the Ebola River is a reservoir of ebola.

It is probably a mammal, but it does not have to be, it could be a snail, a fish, a reptile , insect or even a protozoan.

It would help a lot to know the normal life cycle of this dangerous virus, it might be something that it is possible to avoid.

If we knew where it was and what its host(s) was (were), then we could and should destroy it.

We should strive to destroy everywhere and forever malarial mosquitoes as well. Eventually we will have the technology to do this. To assume that some diseases and vectors that spread them are all part of God's Infinitely Wise Plan is downright stupid.

    Yes , that is the basic idea , and I agree with it.
    I wish it were just so simple.
    DDT was used to reduce the vectors of Malaria, Yellow Fever, and Typhus so well that it is still absent in some formally endemic regions. If it had not been forbidden one generation ago Malaria might quite well be a bad memory instead of a growing disease that wastes the human strength of the tropics.
      We could also be entirely out of eagles , ospreys and falcons.
     The reservoir of ebola is still a mystery, if it turns out to be some ugly bug or snail the eradication campaign shall commence, but what if it turns out to be the Lowland Gorilla?

Probably an animal or insect that is found in that locality, but it could be a protozoan, or its life cycle could be complicated.

Ebola is fortunately less contagious than malaria.

There was an epidemic of Chikunguya  in the DR where I recently spent three weeks. I came equipped with a lot of repellent and mosquito netting, but I saw not a single mosquito. Most of the people I know there had already contracted the virus, some twice, as there are two strains, or simply were immune, and no one in the area was infected that I knew of.

The rumor was that it was spread by the Chinese. Of course, there would have been no motive for that. The Chinese export lots of stuff to the DR, especially Suzuki and Lonchn motorcycles and dozens of brands of scooters. Some are Japanese brands, but all are made in China. There is a large Great Wall auto and truck dealership in Santo Domingo, it covers a city block on one of the main streets. The Chinese have been exporting vehicles for so long that there are also beat up Cherys and other Chinese brands on the street.

it`s pretty common to blame us for most illnesses . I heard it all. but notice after the discovery of EBOLA decades ago we haven't learned that much about it. you`d think at least at a academic standpoint it`s would of gotten more attention.

China is interested in trade and making money. Spreading diseases is not their thing. If it were their thing, they would have no problems with Uighars or Tibetans.
