Kurds happy with US, Turkey disapointing.

Halting the advance of IS is enough.
Halting them where they must expend their fortune just to maintain position and bleed can exhaust them if we are patient and our expenditure is smaller.

Turkey is not as loyal to NATO as they ought to be , I think because it gripes them to do anything nice for Kurds.

Some Kurds also want to seize part of Turkey as a part of a Kurdish state.

Being as the Turks are not fanatical Muslims, IS has no chance of  taking over Turkey. The Turks do not want a large number of Syrian Kurdish refugees in their country because they have only recently ended a war with Kurds who speak the same tongue as Turkish Kurds. Not all Kurds speak the same language, by the way.

IS is a Sunni Arab organization.

This potential problem does not seem to worry them about trying to take over Baghdad.

Iraq was the capital of the famous Caliphate of Baghdad before there was a split with the Shiites. Or at least before there was a major conflict between the two sects.
Baghdad is like the Jerusalem of the Caliphate.

Yes , and the most recent Caliphate was headquartered in Turkey.

I do not see the IS as self limited in any realistic way.

Their limit is actually what they can support and patrol, but they are depending on divine intervention to make such limits meaningless.

When they talk about taking over all the world , they mean it.

One constant with all Middle Eastern people is that they exaggerate.
Israel claims that Hamas with a bunch of mickeymouse rockets are an "existential threat".
Saddam Hissein bragged about "The Mother of All Wars".

At the very most, IS will be hard pressed to control parts of Syria and Iraq for a limited time.
The fact that they claim they plan to take over the entire world is just typical of this hyperexaggeration.
I agree that they are bad guys, but they are few and their abilities are limited.

That is a good point , I agree that their limits are more real than they admit.

But they are gonna cause a lot of trouble while they run up to their limits, and they are already calling on kindred sprits to attack Americans .

I am not so worried that they will eventually succeed, but that they will kill a goodly number in their futile attempts.

Including anywhere that a Muslim might be , there is no particular thing that makes the US safe , we have a lot of Muslims that live here .

Most Muslims are probably smarter than the ones that think that extreme violence advances their cause, but how many does this small minority need to amount to, to cause a pretty bad problem?

Most Muslims cause fewer problems here than do non-Muslims.

You give them a better grade than Atheists?

Ok, I can go along with that.

Most of them are too smart to think that a bombing contest with the USA is a good idea.

It is the less than 1% that points the spear and shoots up the place.

This shooting up the place, in the name of Islam, is happening  from Texas to India.

Atheists in the US are in no way unified in any way. They have only one thing in common. Atheism is not a movement any more than people who enter eating contests are a movement. Most Atheists do not belong to any Atheist organizations , and many do not even let others know that they are Atheists.

Violent Muslims are most often disturbed individuals for whom being a Muslim is a part of their disturbed mentality.

You are not describing all Atheists.

Your description is true for most American Atheists, probably most of the worlds Atheists.

But there was a massively organized Atheist movement that conspired to gain positions of control and at its height was dominant over half the world....

Communism isn't over either , it just is having a bit of a let down in recent times.

Now to describe Islam as a scheme for taking over the whole planet is not correct for all Muslims , but it does describe a significant faction.
