The purpose of any government is to serve the citizens. Here in Florida, we have an asshole businessman
who thinks that the state government is a business.

Gvt should be run as much as possible like a business....which is daily accountability to customers.
Business can not print up faux money and debase Americans money as the assholes in Washington have done.
The reason everything is so expensive is because the Gvt has debased our money by their actions.
The reason households must now have two working parents is because they have debased our money,
so now parents must both work to cover the gap the assholes in Washington have caused.
Name a business that runs a deficit 1/1000 the size as the immoral assholes in Washinton spending others money?
Name a business that pollutes as much as the worlds largest polluter the US Gvt who exempts itself from many enviro laws?
Name a business that has more waste and fraud than the US government?
Name a business spying on personal communication of American to the extent the US Gvt has been found doing lately?
Name a business squandering billions of US Citizens hard earned dollars to countries that hate the United States?

That is crap.

Not even a twit like Rick Scott does this. It looks like Florida might have a slight budget surplus, and Scott, rather than keeping something in the bank for say, hurricanes, he wants another tax cut.  Not for the people, of course, only businesses. Large ones.

Again, the duty of government is NOT to make a profit. It is to serve the people. All of the statement "government should be run like a business" is crap.
One good example of a government run as a lucrative business was the British East India Company. Another was King Leopold's  rubber business in the Congo. Haiti was run as a very lucrative business by the French colonials until 1790 or so.

The British ran the American colonies as a business until 1775. The whole idea sucks.

Actually, its not.  To run a successful business includes making a profit, but it also includes providing the best service, in the most efficient manner...or it ceases to be a success.  Government has lost track of that priority, and instead just expecting to get away with worsening inefficiency & decreasing quality by simply printing more money, which a buisness can't do, and passing on the cost to its customers, by way of increased taxes, which again is a recipe for disaster

Not to mention "making a profit" in this case, is a surplus for the Federal reserves, and not running into ever worsening debt

So, if you can't actually provide any specifics as to what is specifically crap, the only one full of it, would be your say so

That depends on how you think a business should be run, and there are a lot of better examples.

Wouldn't it be nice if the public welfare was done with efficiency and dispatch as if it were a Wal-Mart franchise?

If I thought that a Hudsons Bay company was on its way to Mars, I would like to be an investor.

I think you can invest in Hudson's Bay.

I have no proof that welfare is run in an inefficient manner. Most of those who criticize AFDC and such are ultra righties that hate the entire idea of welfare, and would prefer that starving children would be a better incentive for welfare mothers to get a job. They are also dorks who believe that the minimum wage should be abolished. The usual criticism is tends to be the ninetieth reiteration o someone somewhere who saw a fat Black woman buy filet mignons and lobsters with food stamps from ADFC. Where I shop, I see LOTS of people buying food with food stamps, and most all they buy are staples, bread, milk, flour, value packs of chicken and items advertised on sale.

Lots of people who complain about food stamps are simply asshole racists and fools.

Welfare does not advertise like WalMart does. People who get welfare to not sing its praises, nearly all of them would prefer to have a job and buy their food with money.

Could you be any more wrong in your proclamations of what others must believe, regarding welfare and minimum wage?  Probably not

How about Wal*Mart? They advertise constantly that they have the lowest prices, when this is simply untrue.
Bananas are a very popular fruit and the wholesale prices is affected by the available supply, which varies a lot.

And yet, Wal*Mart here sells the standard Cavendish (monkey) banana for 69 ¢ a pound. The price rarely varies.

Other supermarkets sell the same bananas for as low as five pounds for a dollar.

There are occasional frauds  with food stamps, but they never are anywhere near the sort of ripoffs that take place because of deceptive and outright lying in advertising. They are nowhere near the vast amounts of money wasted on weapons that are not needed and are non functional. If one F-135 crashes, more money is wasted than could possibly be wasted by the total expenditure of feeding poor people in one state.

No program is perfect. It is foolish to expect total perfection.

Breitbart is far less perfect than their "exposés". And I did not say at any point that Bretibart should be muzzeled.

I kinda doubt a government can run like a business due to the fact a businesses totally a needs government to ensure a businesses  makes a higher profit margin. Note all the successful businesses making profit now. It's totally because of government regulations.

Businesses were making profits long before the mountain of regulations imposed.  The regulations now frequently seen are the efforts to "steer" businesses into how the Government want them to act/behave.  Let's also not forget that much of the regulations are lobbied by those corporations that have deep pockets and lobbyists, facilitating their congress critters to push regulations/legislations that would negatively impact the lesser pocket competition.  Still another reason, where less Government intervention, the better the market can dictate actual fairness

But  before regulation were in place businesses had a fairly limited consumer base to gain profits. But afterwards the consumer based increased so more profit can be made.
