Obamacare unsustainable

Quote
"With these heavy rate increases, the problem is the people who are going to say for a $695 penalty, to heck with it," Hickey explained. "The healthy abandon insurance, and what you're left with is the sick, and you can never raise your rates high enough."

ummm.....everyone.  Then again, it's working exactly as planned.....that being that it self implodes and the left decries "oh well, we'll just have to go to a singer payer system", expecting that the electorate will buy that would make it all better, when just had a taste of it

The solution is to duplicate Medicare for everyone, INCLUDING the option of allowing the option of Medicare Advantage type plans by private companies.
If private can do a better job, let them prove it.

Whoever is elected, we will not return to a place where  companies get to write off half the people because of previous conditions.
Hospitals will have to produce price lists for most procedures and inform the patient of the guaranteed cost.
Medical people, specialists in particular, are grossly overpaid by world standards. This will change. Their high charges are unsustainable.
Big Pharma needs price controls.

No.....the solution starts with getting the Federal Government out of the driver's seat to this nation's healthcare.  That is neither a function nor mandate of the Federal Government

Then we go from there

The Feds are the only force powerful enough to deal with the price gougers in the system.

The people cannot force hospitals to divulge their prices. Competition does not work in health care.

The health of the people is the health of the nation.

You're making my point.  The Fed was never supposed to be so "powerful".  If you want them to provide healthcare, then by all means, lobby your congress critters to amend the Constitution, to make it their responsibility.  Until that point, its not

It is bad that the environment of the pharmaceutical manufacturers is not a competitive one.

This is my opinion.

By dint of consolidation and strong lobbying the makers of drugs have protected their profit.

Feds included.

But it is, so says the Roberts Court,

So now the court got it right?  Wish you would make up your mind

But to be more accurate, Roberts equated Obamacare to a Federal tax, that was being imposed, and NOT some support of the Federal Government having the mandate to provide healthcare

Needless to say, even the Supreme Court can get it wrong, in matters of Constitutional parameters of the Federal Government.  This being one of those instances

And just as easily can be found Unconstitutional.....bit by bit....such as the current ruling that the subsidies are illegal

Obamacare was ruled legal.
Eat your heart out sirs.

In part, it will take years and dozens of cases to get rulings on all of the parts.

Some parts have failed the test.

I would favor having any law that fails to be constitutional in part , be entirely over ruled.

This would encourage the writing of simpler and shorter laws.

Laws being extremely wordy and complex is pernicious.

Any law that deals with the health of 300,000,000 people subject to accidents and all manner of disease is going to be complex.

The rebuttal points are:
a) it didn't & doesn't have to be.  It was made complex, on purpose
b) it's not the role of the Federal Government to provide healthcare, in the 1st place
