And presently it is a non-issue......except for those on the left trying to make it one.  This flogging of the birther horse resonates only with people who hate Trump anyway.  It doesn’t gain Clinton a single vote.  It’s obvious why they’re doing it.  After one of the worst stretches in campaign history, Clinton's minions were forced to desperately grasp for a diversion from damaging story lines, (be it her health, her deplorables misque, and her growing e-mail/foundation volcano) that were all inflicting real political damage.  Just look at all the polls that validate that

Clinton had nothing to do with it.
Trump grabbed this issue and rode it for over a year.
Eventually, President Obama had his long form birth certificate exhibited and Trummp made grumbling noises ans shut up.
Trump did not say why he started this issue,He presented no evidence or reason.
He claimed that he had hired investigators to go to Hawaii and we would "be surprised at what they are finding out".
He never said anything more about his 'investigators' None of them has surfaced.

Then, also without any e=reason or evidence he dropped the issue, no apologies, ans somehow blamed Hillary.

Trump is a bullshit artist and a dick, as Michael Bloomberg and Tony Schwartz, Trump's ghostwriter have told us, warning us against voting for him.

It's amazing to watch a supposed lingustics professor have a near pathological condition when it comes to the English language.  AT NO TIME HAS ANYONE SAID, INFERRED, OR HINTED THAT CLINTON HERSELF SAID ANYTHING ABOUT OBAMA NOT BEING BORN IN THIS COUNTRY.  WHAT HAS BEEN SAID AND VALIDATED IS THAT THE WHOLE BIRTHER ISSUE STARTED IN THE CLINTON CAMP.  That's just a fact.  Now whether she gave tacit permission, be it direct or indirect, we'll never know.  But the Birther issue started with the Clinton crew

Regardless of how long Trump talked about it, doesn't negate the above FACT.  He has made it clear now, that its a non-issue, since he's accepted Obama as having been born in the U.S.  That's also a fact

And I'm sure I can find a plethora of folks, that will go on record as warning us against voting for Clinton

I wonder if this level of examination and effort could have done something useful?

Quote
Origins of the claims

From the start of March 2008, rumors that Obama was born in Kenya before being flown to Hawaii were spread on conservative websites, with the suggestion that this would disqualify Obama from the presidency. In April of that year, anonymous e-mails from supporters of Hillary Clinton repeated the same rumor,[26] apparently in an attempt to revive Clinton's faltering primary election campaign during the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential primaries. These and numerous other chain e-mails during the subsequent presidential election circulated false rumors about Obama's origin, religion and birth certificate.[27][28]

The fact is that Trump flogged and flogged this lie for over a year, and then claimed recently that *POOF!* the opposite was true. No apologies, no admission that he was wrong, nothing.

I like the way he admitted to being wrong.

Period.

As if he were the ultimate authority on such things.

Where's Clinton's camp apology??  Since they started it, they owe Obama an aoplogy just as much as Trump supposedly does.

In reality, neither do, as its a non-issue......except for those on the left, desperately trying to make it one
