Lets talk about politicians
« on: October 22, 2016, 12:23:48 PM »
Decades ago it was brought up the unspoken requirements to become one has scared away people who can really help our country. If you look at our candidates they are actually the only people who can get the job. We have become so picky this is literally our only option. Only people who can handle the scrutiny survive.

Seems only six months ago we had surplus of Republican candidates and a fair pair of Democrats.

How did we winnow the better ones out?

We need a system about the reverse of the one we are using.

Full Disclosure.  Everyone knows just how much they're getting from anyone & everyone else.  Follow the money.  If it doesn't lead to anything, then you have a bonifide stellar politician, that we can step up and support.  If it leads to all forms of access & quid-pro-quo arrangements, you vote their sorry asses out of office, immediately next election cycle

The one flaw I see is people with clean record may not be the trust worthy type also. I think that's one of the reason mitt Romney lost

Nothing is full-proof.......however, money --> greed --> power.  Politics is all about power, and in politics, its nearly always follow the money.  Full disclosure is the best way to follow the money trail

So.....as soon as anyone running for office is inundated with large campaign donations, they will cease to have principles, start their track to the dark side?

That is when it becomes possible , and the temptation is presented.

So possible to start a path down the dark side, but not set in stone.  I'll take quality over quantity, every time.....especially if the option is a few highly qualified principled folk, over a mass of easily swayed, corruptable folk

My full disclosure idea is sounding better all the time now    ;)
