The Bird Feeder (aka Liberalism)
« on: May 02, 2008, 10:45:42 AM »
I bought a bird feeder.

I hung it on my back porch and filled
it with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it is, as I filled it
lovingly with seed. Within a
week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ....
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be.... quiet, serene
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care, and free
education and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
your child's 2nd grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
"press one" to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than "Old Glory" are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.
If you agree, pass it on; if not,
continue cleaning up the poop!

Question.

I often hear how awful multiculturalism is and all of the horrible things it has done to society.

What is the alternative?

1. Obviously, one alternative is the exact opposite: unicultarlism. That would be one single dominate culture to assimilate whatever other cultures exist.
2. Another alternative would be complete separation of cultures so that no intermingling exists.

I don't honestly see another alternative beyond those two. What is the other possibility?

We have:

1. Multiculturalism
2. Uniculturalism
3. Segregationism (can't think of a better term)

   Fill my ears with silver
   Stick my legs in plaster

This thing is so stupid on so many levels.  If a guy puts up a bird feeder, what was he expecting?  Music to come out of it?  Birds come and eat food.  The whole point of a bird feeder is to FEED BIRDS and to enjoy looking at and listening to the birds.

If this dumbass (and any he represents allegorically speaking) doesn't like seeing and hearing and feeding birds, then maybe he shouldn't have put up the damned bird feeder in the first place.

It is not lost on me how this is supposed to be some kind of homespun common sense bullshit that grandparents forward to each other and then later say, "yeah, that thing made a lot of sense" the next morning whilst they drink their bottomless cups of sanka or whatever at the local biscuit store or bbq shop, but the whole thing of the bird feeder representing our government just doesn't work.  He has total control of the bird feeder and he built it himself and WANTED to build it.  His whining about the kinds of birds he attracted should be kept to himself and directed at himself only.

To JS,

Multiculturalism is only good if the other cultures are whities who speak english and know their places as guests of the whities who live in the US when you're talking to whities who already live here.

There's a fourth choice.

The melting pot. Be an American. Fell free to keep your traditions, just like your grandparents did, but be American first.

Who determines what is an "American"?  How is that defined?

Some birds doe better when you fed them some do better when you don't.

If you have a Hummingbird feeder try not to keep it out after all the flowers have quit blooming , the birds might miss their cue to migrate and start too late, starving halfway to Mexico.

You know, I have said over and over again that the problem with immigrants getting benefits from social programs run by the government is a problem with the programs not the immigrants. And everyone tells me that is impractical. Oh well.

Actually I do have a problem with this poem (if that is even what it is). Comparing immigrants to birds who poop all over everything (try not putting laxative in the birdseed next time) seems insulting. As much as I like that the poem argues for the end of government run social programs, the nativist tone is offensive and something think the situation does not need.

Is the point that the feeder changes the natural behavior of the birds?

No really , only rarely do the birds need the feeder , the point of the feeder is to bring the birds to  where they would not naturally spend much time.

Ok the advertisement at the bottom of the page just now was for hummingbird feeders , this just seems like too much of a coincidence.

Is there a program picking keywords out of our posts and matching related ads to them?

No, really? Wow!

(For those keeping track at home, yes, that is sarcasm. And yes, I think he deserved it.)
