Have a great time, Sirs.

I start teaching on Wed. So, I will be outta here, as well.

These are the best of times in terms of politics. I am sure there are so many people out there who would love to post in the gate. I encourage more guests to come into the light and don't be afraid to give it their all.

If I can do it.....d'oh ....ya'll can do it.

One guest...I challenge ONE GUEST TO JUMP into the pool here.

Ciao for now.

The majority of the "guests" are search engines.

LOL

I was thinking that perhaps we could put a search engine up against some of the more infamous engines on this board....

 ;D

We could, but I don't think you'd see any differences in the responses from some of the members.  The search engine would throw up 57,538 items in support of its position, and from this side, you'd hear, "Thank you very much for your speculative opinion, and please get back to us when you have some FACTS to support it."  Oh well, the good thing about it would be, maybe the search engine wouldn't get tired.

In fact to support anything online is something we and thee on the gate can not really and truly bank on...period.

Facts come from sources that are not necessarily generated from the internet. That's a fact.

So, like I said before, most of us "online boards of America"-- no matter the year ... in this case circa 2008--- finish at the bottom line sort of the truth as we know it today.....BS.
Problems will never be solved online. This board, as many along the line of debate and "opinion based venue" have really only been a channel for entertainment, at best...

Nonsense.

My position concerning gay marriage has evolved simply because of my interaction with gay members like fatman and former members like gannymeade.

And that is but one example.

Opinions change one person at a time.

two people out of millions....Oh yea..That is an interaction. I am not critcizing Fatman. I know he is gay. I know he is a smart man. I know that he is a hell of a debater on this gate.....but this is still a narrow window of opinionated folks....fun  loving, writers (Pooche) et al.....and yet all so willing to flex muscles of "opinions"...and a few facts

bottom line, hon, this is still just a venue of political H.S. style online debate club entertainment. . . unless of course there is a broader band of folks out there who give a damn..i.e. the guests whom you so casually brush aside as SE's.

Well, BT, that's a good thing to hear. I believe we all need such thorough facts on this board.
NOW for once, you have given a worthwhile fact.

Why do the SE's do that?

I am confused about that.  I wondered why some of the "guests' inquire about a person's profile etc.

For the record, that's the best news I have heard today.

I was beginning to worry. Where the heck are all these guests coming from?
Ha.
Oh well, I will check in when I can on the board after Wed. I start work in the PS's my all time passion of a life on July 23.
I hope to continue to rally with you all when time permits. '

This election should be a good one.

All in all, we as Americans bring more to the table to our world than do our leaders. We are the clients that speak softly and carry a heavy stick.

Gone are the days of FDR.

Here are the days of PC ads and then some.

Such a naive bunch of spectators are most of the Americans in this nation. We vote for the candidate who has been bruised the least....Shame on the mud slinging ...but you would know better than I.

Perhaps that's been the sign of the times for every election....as far back as the FDR and his new world order.

I disagree.  One of the things that I enjoy most about this board is that it exposes me to a range of opinions and thought processes that I wouldn't experience otherwise, and that makes me more knowledgeable about some issues.  I don't necessarily agree with the other posters, but it helps me to see the argument(s) from their side, and that is a truly useful tool in any argument or debate.

While the exposure to such views may be small as a sample of members, that lack of size also means that some very interesting and detailed views aren't lost in an ocean of threads/posts.  There are pluses and minuses to it, and while I wish that there were more members who were as involved as some here, I'll take what we've got any day.

To downgrade those views and that important exposure to entertainment is vaguely insulting.
