My guess is that Palin's clothes have become collectible, and are worth a lot more than was paid for them, if auctioned off individually. Like Jackie Onassis' threads, except for rightwingers. The money can then be donated to some worthy Republican charity. (Habitat for Inhumanity? Joe the Plumber Enterprise Fund?)

Actually, Sarah does not own the clothes - they remain the property of the RNC (since they paid for them). It will be the RNC who decides what charities will benefit. Most likely they'll auction the clothes off and split the proceeds up among a dozen or so charities.
