Democrat options....."if"
« on: January 18, 2010, 03:17:57 PM »
-Require House Democrats to swallow hard and approve the Senate-passed bill without changes. President Barack Obama could sign it into law without another Senate vote needed.

-Acting before Brown is sworn in. Congressional and White House negotiators could try to reconcile the House and Senate bills quickly and pass the new version before Brown takes office. A firestorm of criticism would follow, but some Democrats say it would be better than having no bill.

-Seeking a Republican to cast the crucial 60th Senate vote.

-Start over and pass a new, scaled back health bill using budget reconciliation, which requires a simple majority of 51 Senate votes.

is anyone there sane and rational; enough to realize they are going against most American wishes and in the end they will pay for it?

They don't care Kramer.  The people don't matter.  The Constitution doesn't matter.  What matters is for the 1st time in ....forever I think, you have a situation were "the forces are aligned" to pass UHC.  Even at the risk of pushing the economy into an abyss it may never pull out from, and/or putting Democrats in the minority for several election cycles.  Even with the current examples that have shown its utter failures.  At least it'll get in, and once in, it'll never be removed, placing the country into a center-left European-style Government, and eventually, Democrats will be in the majority again, and with UHC already a mainstay, they can progress a socialist agenda even further

President Obama warned Democrats in Congress today not to "jam" a health care reform bill through now that they've lost their commanding majority in the Senate, and said they must wait for newly elected Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown to be sworn into office.

The president also said the same voter anger that swept him into office in 2008 carried Brown into office on a stunning upset victory Tuesday night over heavily favored Democrat Martha Coakley
