Question about privacy here

Not really a concern for me just curious. If I were to apply for a job with a large business does my membership here be a risk for future employment? Just assume they do a very extensive background check.


My question is how extensive does it get. Remember these businesses have been know to ask for facebook passwords as part of the background check. I do have thoughts of applying for google in the future should I not bother if my shady bacground will hold me back.

   I work for the DOD so under all circumstances I try to never reveal anything sensitive or classified.

    I also make some effort to avoid ever writing anything so egregiously rude that I couldn't defend it to the higher ups .

    This seems like good personal policy to me ,the boss in my case can open anything if there is reason enough, they probably don't , but they could.

  I think that on your cell phone there is reasonably an expectation of privacy, but on a bulletin board there is no expectation of privacy at all.

     Regardless of all , if there is good reason to suspect a person of a crime , warrants can be issued that remove all privacy entirely.

just a thought if businesses can access your personal history before employment.  can this mean companies will have a harder time legally maintaining private employee records?

Kimba...."privacy" is obviously a fluid situation these days.

People can find out all kinds of things about you that were much more
difficult in the past.

Facebook users can face a potential privacy issue, but random message boards like 3DHS,
that are not high profile and where you are not "seen" really should not be a problem
unless you are going to a job where a deep background check is being required.

Just sign up for message boards using a more anonymous type e-mail (hot-mail/yahoo mail)

Then pick a user name that is anonymous as well.

That should keep you "off the radar".

I have been noticing more and more "comment" sections
on publications like newspapers, magazines, web-sites
are making it real easy to sign in and make comments
with your Facebook log-in. For privacy reasons I do not
ever sign in and make comments under my Facebook name.

I think I only mention my name three times here so someone has to know I`m a member and read almost every single post to find which one is me . that`s alot of work. doubtful worth the effort for screening employee candidates.

but i`m in the atitude if they go through this much trouble then I`m really close to getting the job.

Kimba....it is amazing how much info people can get these days.

Our PI (Private Investigator) has some program where if someone is not answering their phone, he can somehow put other numbers or other ID's that show up in the caller ID of the person dodging the calls. Like if we are trying to locate someone and they won't answer their phone when they see it is us, the PI can call them and make it appear it's their girlfriend calling.

Also I was unaware that many time lawyers do asset searches before starting litigation
because they don't want to waste their time suing someone for $10 million dollars
that only has $250K in assets. A good PI can find out pretty close what most
average Joe's total assets are....so a lawyer will have a better gauge on how
much to sue for.

Kimba you are more than reasonably safe from privacy invasions. No one knows your real name but me, i don't recall you giving it out online because i would have said something about it, especially when we were bigger. And i won't give it out without a subpoena. and maybe not even them. You know how unstable the internet is these days. Something might happen to the database.

Also you have never to my knowledge posted anything that was incendiary or seditious on these boards.

But for some reason my coworkers really really want to see it. It's whats most people request from me. Don 't get me started about the me and gay porn.

I'm not nervous about any job finding out about my porn connection at all.
