There is still a lot we don't really know about giant squid , like how fast they grow , how common they are or how old they get.
Smaller squid grow very rapidly and mature in one to two years , only a few last longer than maturity as mating kills them.
Sperm whales seem to eat giant squid regularly , so they can't be too rare, they just live where we seldom go.
It is exciting to learn more of these fabulous creatures , perhaps we will put a camera collar on one to record his daily life, but we might have to retrieve that camera from whale poop.
