Obama to House Dems: If Sanctions Fail, Israel Will Likely Strike Iran
July 30, 2008 9:30 AM

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, met with House Democrats yesterday, talking about his trip abroad and his observations.

Obama told the caucus, according to an attendee, "Nobody said this to me directly but I get the feeling from my talks that if the sanctions don?t work Israel is going to strike Iran."

The notion that Israel is preparing for such an action against Iran's myriad nuclear facilities is not new, with conjecture heating up in May after an Israeli military exercise featuring 150 aircraft flying almost a thousand miles over the Mediterranean Sea in what was seen as a dress rehearsal for an air strike. Now that the Bush administration is engaged in diplomatic efforts with Iran, many Israeli officials are worried the US is getting soft on Iran, prompting Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak to travel to the US this week to meet with  Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley. Barak's office released a statement saying "a policy that consists of keeping all options on the table must be maintained."

Another attendee at the meeting of House Democrats recalls Obama saying that the good news is that Obama got the sense that the Arab states understand just how destabilizing a nuclear Iran would be -- a "game changer," Obama said -- because they know Israel would probably strike and that would be bad for everyone.

A senior adviser to Obama told ABC News that Obama was heartened to hear Jordan's King Abdullah share that view with him in their private meeting.

The Obama campaign had no comment.

<< . . .  the good news is that Obama got the sense that the Arab states understand just how destabilizing a nuclear Iran would be -- a "game changer," Obama said -- because they know Israel would probably strike and that would be bad for everyone.>>

So, these Arab "leaders" understand basically that Israel can have its way with all or any of them merely by threatening to strike any one of them.

I think if I were an Arab "leader," I would draw some conclusions from that situation that might not be to the liking of Obama or the Zionist support that he's pandering to.  If some little squirt moved into my neighbourhood and began threatening my neighbours to do as he says "or else," and there was no effective police force able or willing to protect me or put the squirt in his place, there's only one logical response to the situation.

Or...

Could it be that someone needs Jewish votes in Florida?
I smell something burning, hope it's just my brains.
They're only dropping peppermints and daisy-chains
So stuff my nose with garlic
   Coat my eyes with butter
   Fill my ears with silver
   Stick my legs in plaster
   Tell me lies about Vietnam.

Zionist votes.  Someone needs Zionist votes in Florida.  Jewish voters, by and large, are not single-issue voters, and are natural constituents of the Democratic Party.  Always have been, big-time, despite all the nauseating pro-Zionist pandering of the Republicans.

True, it is really Zionist votes that need to be won.

There has been some talk of Joe Lieberman as Johnny Mac's potential Veep. I wonder if that would change the dynamics of the campaign?

My perception of Lieberman is really warped.  I just loathe the man so much that I'm not able to form objective opinions.  For example, I was sure that he'd lose when he ran as an independent, but nobody else seemed to give a shit.  IMHO, Lieberman would be the kiss of death to anyone he associated with.  But my opinion in this case is completely fucked up.

For example, he always made much of his Orthodox Jewish "faith," conspicuously wore his yarmulka in public everywhere he went, until suddenly he became a VP candidate and POUF! the yarmulka was gone, never to obscure his glorious mane again.  (Well, not exactly - - it does resurface now and again, depending on the audience.)  I also loathed the sanctimony with which he turned on Bill Clinton when he had the TEMERITY!  the God-damned GALL! to get a BJ in the Oval Office.  How could he ever tell his daughter the terrible news, or "allow" her to watch mainstream media news again?  I just can't wrap my head around how anyone of either party could ever be attracted to this sanctimonious little prick.
