Look, MT, this is just the beginning of a new chapter. A new book, really. And not just for America, but for the world. Stop taking these small snapshots and pretending they're the big picture. Relax, be patient, stop running around like a chicken with its head cut off. This forum doesn't represent knowledgable America. These are just a bunch of reactionary rednecks in here who's time has come and gone. In another 40/50 years this country won't even be white let alone rightwing.

Well, maybe I should downgrade the threat level from red to orange. Fascist America in 2025 is still a realistic possibility.
True enough, this forum doesn't represent knowledgeable America, but then how much of a bulwark is knowledgeable America anyway? Knowledgeable America never elected George W. Bush, and worse yet, it couldn't even keep him from a second term.
The major moving force here is irrational America and those who know how to capitalize on its irrationality, which in my lexicon means the GOP for now, but also their rivals on the right further on down the road. Furthermore, I can only foresee a downward trend in America's fortunes in the coming decades, as its global competitors inevitably continue to outperform it. The worsening economic fortunes will favour irrational solutions over rational ones. In the marketplace of ideas, in worsening times, emotional solutions will increasingly outsell rational solutions. Always have, always will.
