Does that have something to do with the fact that he carries for no real reason? You bet. Carrying for no real reason is also obnoxious.

So most of the millions of people that go thru the course to carry a concealed weapon are idiots because they read the newspapers and the internet and clearly see the gvt is failing in one of their primary responsibilities to protect cistizens? The gvt is too busy saving the spotted owl and sending billions to our enemies instead of protecting citizens....so citizens decided "F-THAT" I'm going to protect my family no matter what XO thinks! It's funny to see control freak disease.....you dont want to carry? Fine dont carry. But control freaks say "I dont want to carry and I want to control you too so you cant carry". Liberals are basically "know it alls" that think you're an idiot unless you agree with them......in their minds it's not possible to study an issue and honestly just come to a different conclusion. Liberals hate "to each his own".....they want to control their own and others too!

I have yet to see anyone spending too much time on the spotted owl.

Given a choice between a world with no spotted owls and another with no lumpenproletarian ratbag right wingers, I will choose the spotted owl every time.

There is little or no real threat to the average person to the point that he needs to carry a gun around with him. I have lived here in Miami for 35 years and have never been in a position where carrying a gun would have been necessary.

Neither have I.  Nice to know though, that in that extremely rare possibility, I'll be more likely to protect myself and my loved ones, then apparently you could, of you & your loved ones.  But that's your choice, I suppose

If its any consolation, if someone was taking aim at you and your family, I wouldn't hesitate to take that threat down

You're welcome

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out
[Chorus]
Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town
He laughed and kissed his mom
And said your Billy Joe's a man
I can shoot as quick and straight as anybody can
But I wouldn't shoot without a cause
I'd gun nobody down
But she cried again as he rode away
[Chorus]
Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town
He sang a song as on he rode
His guns hung at his hips
He rode into a cattle town
A smile upon his lips
He stopped and walked into a bar
And laid his money down
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
But his mother's words echoed again
[Chorus]
Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town
He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand
And tried to tell himself he had become a man
A dusty cowpoke at his side began to laugh him down
And he heard again his mothers words
[Chorus]
Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town
Filled with rage then
Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw
But the stranger drew his gun and fired
Before he even saw
As Billy Joe fell to the floor
The crowd all gathered 'round
And wondered at his final words
[Chorus]
Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town

II have lived here in Miami for 35 years and have never been in a position where carrying a gun would have been necessary.

Great for you....your decision works for you.
But that's not my decision...I come to a different conclusion for me.
Quit trying to make my decision too.....i didnt intrude on yours.
Only once in his life my brother in San Fran was almost killed at work.
But once was enough....he now keeps a firearm in his office.
Luckily his coworker had a gun and chased the mugger/robbery suspect out of their office.
It only has to happen one time in your life to put you in the graveyard.
Besides at home and office....I was in the woods walking last weekend
and woke up and surprised a large wild feral hog
he didnt charge me....but he could have easily
i had my pistol on me.....and it felt very good knowing I had it with me.
Quit assuming you know whats best for everybody's situation
when you dont know diddly about my life or SIRS life or millions of others.
read it....understand it....accept it.....dont demonize..2EachHisOwn!

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, CU, you missed it. I never said that the carry laws should be changed. I never said people shouldn't be allowed to own guns. I'm saying he's an obnoxious individual who carry's for no reason and people like that are a detriment to society.

Well, I may have said the carry laws should be changed. Either way, yes, I don't like people like Sirs carrying for no reason. It just ups the macho image some need in this society, and is without an other purpose.

Based on what??   Your say so??  Who crowned you ultimate arbitor of who is or isn't obnoxious??  Hell, if its based on nothing more than someone's blinding ideology, you certainly would have some substantial restrictions on who you could see, where you could go, if that's all were basing as some "detriment to society"     ::)

Ok....but I think XO would probably prefer outlawing guns

we got some large wild hogs on our property that are meaner than hell.
they are doing millions of dollars in damage to Texas farms and property
its so bad down here...there is no season for them
you can kill as many and as often as you can
i was walking along in the woods and surprised one
he was about 25 yards away...he looked at me...snorted...and slowly trotted off
look at this one a friend killed recently on our property:

Are wild hogs like that good for eating?

In Georgia there is a system for hunters to donate excess meat , if hogs are all that destructive , it might do well to pay hunters a bounty and use the meat to feed the needy or state prisoners.

The guy that shot him took him to a processer and had sausage made, bacon, ect....
Plane I am kind of picky eater....and I dont like wild game....but they say it tastes pretty good

There's an alligator farm about 20 miles away that buys them
but one of the guys took some over there and they only
gave him 8 cents a pound....not even really worth the gas & time
there are about 5 million wild hogs in the US & 2.6 million are in Texas
Texas AgriLife Extension Service estimates that statewide annual economic damage
caused by feral hogs is tens of millions.....they are a big problem here!

Here's your problem B.......and its multifactorial........putting aside the FACTS of decreased violent crime in areas of the U.S. with more permissive gun laws with higher violent crime in areas with much stricter gun laws, UK gun crime going up in a country that bans guns from its populace, while violent crime in the U.S., with its apparent worsening "gun culture" going down, putting aside all that, just as you couldn't manage it in an earlier thread with Bt, you haven't made any sort of a compelling case as to why someone like sirs should be denied a CCW, outside .....you don't like me, I'm "obnoxious", and that's all you have.  I mean, its a ridiculous and copiously weak argument.  I have every reason to carry one, despite your claims to the contrary.  NO, that doesn't equate to a need, as in no one needs to carry, outside of law enforcement.  That includes he who shall not be named.  But he chooses to to better defend himself in the event such a rare situation might present itself

Anyone that educates themself in the proper use of firearms, with emphasis in practicing sound safety, has no criminal record, has no diagnosed mental instability, and abides by all the laws of the particular jurisdiction they're applying for their CCW in, should have every right to carry, despite how "obnoxious" you might find them.  And as Xo has apparently conceded, the older the person, the safer they are.

You know how long I've had a CCW?.......over 15years.
Know how many people know I have a CCW?......only my immediate family.  Not even my friends know.  (You folks know only because you don't know me personally or where I live)
Know how often I've ever had to pull my weapon?.......zero.
Know how many times I had to consider pulling my weapon?.......once, but thankfully never had to.

Hardly the persona of some macho dude looking to swagger and pull his piece, at the 1st sign of a heated arguement
