Rasmussen is the polling group that always favors Republicans.

The Newtster has a huge amount of negatives about him. He was rejected by his own party.

Do you really think that he did over a million dollars worth of history for Freddie Mac?

His company was paid 1.5 million over a period of years. The CEO's of both Fannie and Freddie both received bonuses in excess of 5.5 million for 1 year at the height of the meltdown.

Perspective.

I think the whole Fannie/Freddie schtick concerning Newt was that he was a lobbyist for them, but if you think about it a community organizer is a lobbyist also. They just call themselves advocates. So I don't really see the big deal. Unless it is about how much each was paid, and then one has to wonder why Obama was paid so little. If pay is based on worth to the payer.

I say that paying Newt all that money for being a "historian" was a dreadful waste of money. Perspective has nothing to do with it.

I don't see any need for wage or price controls now.

So you don't see a problem with employers and employees negotiating fair compensation?

They don't do that now in most places. The employer simply says "I will pay you $x, take it or leave it". It is not collective bargaining: the employee has only the opposition of begging for more or quitting.

That is not negotiation, as I see it.

Doesn't that depend on who is doing the seeking? If the employer seeks you, then you have the upper hand in the negotiation. If you are just seeking a job, then the employer will probably just offer the going rate.

Most of us in here don't need collective bargaining, that just creates another middle man with his hands in your wallet. But like AMI pointed out in another thread it doesn't hurt to know what the market rate is for your position, when you get to the point in the hiring process of discussing salary.

That seems like a lot of pay for a little advice.

But not as fantastic as discarding the advice once paid so much for.

The polling has been accurate to 1%.

Newt now leads Obama. Flush the turd.

Considering that Fannie paid close to $200mil in consulting fees Newt's charges don't seem so high.
