The NRA passes itself off as a club of hunting enthusiasts.
No they do not! You can't find a single one of their magazines in which they represent themselves falsely. If you were to join (hahahaha) they would give you a choice of magazines , one concentrates on politics , the other concentrates on hunting, this is a good system because not all gun owners like to discuss politics.
It is basically a lobbying organization that serves mostly to sell guns to people who already have more guns than hands to hold them. Each and every gun owner will doe, but the guns will not, and the number of guns that will end up in the hands or our monthly massacre types will increase.
What about the gun grabber platform would make gun owners live forever? If this multiple gun per owner phenomenon bothers you , then you ought to be down on Clinton and Obama , whose empty promises of strict regulation prompted panicked buying and hoarding. Nothing the NRA ever did caused skyrocketing sales.
The NRA is therefore not a force for good.
You are entirely entitled to have this as your opinion, unsupported or supported by facts and intuition.
There is a very strong number of voters persuaded the other way, and strongly so .
I think this is somewhat based on voter experience , there are a lot of us that have had a positive experience with guns , some of us indeed have the lifesaving experience. Firsthand experience can't be trumped by anything.
Another bit of this is the result of intuition, many people share my feeling that confiscating 90% of the guns would result in a bloodbath and confiscating 100% would cause both a tyranny and a healthy black market and smuggling era. It is difficult to produce evidence that this intuition predicts reality, but there is equal difficulty proving it wrong.
The real facts that are available are being twisted and spun without mercy. It is a fact that we own more guns than ever , but this can't be proven to cause an increase in violence , because violence coincidentally has decreased.
Thus because Presidents Clinton and Obama have inadvertently caused the public to hold nearly twice as many guns as they did before, and that this has pretty nearly proven the adage that "more guns equals less crime" Presidents Clinton and Obama can be considered as force for good , in spite of themselves.
